Aldi $35 Unlimited Plan

Hi All,

The Mrs. plan had just finished with Voda and she was on the $49 plan where she had $550 worth of calls and 1.5GB data but we were only paying $29 for it as Voda had a special offer when they released HTC's worst phone ever the Salsa. This was 2 years ago.

She happened to finish the data last month and I ended up having to disable her cellular data so I am looking for something with maybe a minimum of 2GB and some generous allowance for voice calls.

I am considering Aldi's $35 unlimited plan with 5GB of data as I don't care if she has 4G or not even though she is using an iPhone5.

Just has a look around, Amaysim, Boost, TPG, Woolworths, Virgin, Redbull (looks like they are closing down) and all cost more than Aldi's plan.

Just wondering if I missed any out there that are worth checking out.

Not too concerned about international calls but I do know that Aldi's plan give you $10 worth of credit I believe.

I am not interested in getting a phone, SIM only so I think it will most likely be some pre-paid plan.

Let me know if I missed something worth looking / considering.

Regards,
Ray

  • woolworths prepaid is the best value for me. $26 with everyday rewards card

    • Discontinued product Mitcheo

  • Unfortunately you can't buy Woolworths mobile sims anymore. Existing customers will be able to buy recharges for 12 months.

I need premium sms calls aswell, so can't do aldi mobile either.

I am on the ALDI $35 plan however after I got my sim following the Kogan collapse, all ALDI stores went out of stock. I have not checked whether they have sims again or not.

    • In Melb, City & Brunswick stores have heaps.
I know the Gold Coast has been empty for over a month.

Aldi just recently taken off the $10 worth of International calls as this was just their promo. One of their customer reps said when I asked about it. I'm on my 2nd month with Aldi by the way. All is good with the reception and mobile internet.

  • As long as you're able to self manage, Live Connect looks good.

I'm with Virgin, $19 a month on the $29 cap (BYO, save $10 a month back in the day)
I also signed up when I got a 'free 2GB for the life of my plan'.

So I pay $19, for $550 worth of calls, and 2.25gb of data in total. Not terrible at all.

The GF however is on prepaid so I spent the night looking for plans.
LiveConnect won out, with PerKB billing and amazing prices.

All the horror stories I read were people trying to deal with phone support, as opposed to the web portal.

Go with Aldi, i switched from vodafone to kogan then aldi and I'm very happy with the service so far.

Just note that you'll have to cut the SIM for an iphone 5 as aldi don't have nano sims

Aldi plan is great evens works for the daughter in Bourke.

  • Hi had this question too. Does Aldi Mobile unlimited plan work well with iPhone 4S?

    • The phone does not matter.Any will work.

      • Yes and no - some phones are 850/900 only and so don't get decent 3G speeds on certain networks. The 4S will work on any but simply saying the phone doesn't matter may result in other people making the wrong choice. Phone must work on 2100/900 to get decent 3G is a better answer. Some phones don't have this and so ALDI isn't too good for them.

        • Thanks for that.I guess the other phones are older ones.
