How to service a Peugeot 307? (2002)

Hi all!

I would like to start servicing my own Peugeot 307 (Unleaded Petrol hatchback). I was wondering how I would go about it, I have never serviced a car in my life, so I'm pretty much a complete beginner. I have the 2002 model. Also which oil should I be using and what should I be changing.

Thanks

  • You're probably better off asking in a specialist Peugeot forum, though you might strike some general advice here.

I have a 307, i just change the oil and oil filter every 15 000 kms, semi synthetic (which ever is on special).

the oil filter is in a tight spot so i would recommend this type of removal tool http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/New-3-Leg-2-Way-Dual-Drive-Oil-Fu…
also as you will need to get right under the car you will need a hydralic jack and a set of car stands, these are always on special at repco or super cheap. Edit: NEVER get under a car without the stands in place.

  • As Daabido said, and you may want to take it to a mechanic at least once a year to get it connected to a OBDII diagnostic if it has a data port, not sure if it does and forums are your source.

  • Get yourself a workshop manual. It will have all the relevant data on oils and procedures. Generally you just change the oil and the filter. The oil needs to be at working temperature before you drain it out (don't burn yourself). Also remember to put a thin film of oil on the rubber seal of the filter when you put it on. Don't over tighten the filter (just finger tight) or it may not come off again. When you start the car observe for drips around the filter and you're all good.

  • Head over to Aussie Frogs and ask there.

The Peugeot LEXIA 3 cable can be had for under $100 from aliexpress.com
