It'd be a good idea put the sale price (ie: $99) in the title. Thanks for the heads up.

  • Good buy, but tools seem to be not the same standard as sidchrome tools you buy individually. There is no way the tools alone sell for 170 maybe 60, but still a good kit to keep in the car.

Sidchrome up until 1996 were manufactured in Australia, but since being acquired by The Stanley Works (now call Stanley Black & Decker) production is now undertaken in China.

      • No wonder they have the same sorta feel as my Stanley tools….and Stanley tools are nothing to brag about.
My old man has a sidchrome set from "back in the day" - I use these, they are fantastic quality and can handle anything.

Nice kit as it is but better if it had the basic screwdrivers included and maybe even a small hammer as that would be a great starter set. I got a Sidchrome set for my 21st and it's still going strong. Still looks brand new but it was one of the last of the Aussie made sets from the mid-90s (supplied in a Limited Edition dark green cabinet!) so I doubt this newer stuff would be as good. $99 is still a pretty good deal on this set tho.

  • Sorry about the price in the title.

Here are some prices on the socket set:

    • The Sydney Tools page says lifetime warranty. Seems impressive.

  • Time to time SCA has quite a heavy discount on sidchrome tools.

Does anyone know how much it is cheapest when this occurs?

  • None at Bunnings Parafield. Didn't have time to ask the staff though.

Saw a small stock of these at Bunning Parafield, SA. They are hidden away on a pallet near the large tool boxes. I bought one today.

  • I picked up this kit last week from Port Stephens Bunnings. The knocked it down to $50 to get rid of the last 2. Although I got a 'Gaspardo' hat in mine, whoever they are. Sidchrome are posting the proper one out.

There's a nice Crescent tool set there too I'm eyeing off, half price at $99.

  • About 5 or so left at Maribyrnong Bunnings (VIC). It was marked as $199, then $149, and finally $99.

At that price I thought I'd splash out and get one.

For anyone interested, the bag is very sturdy and comes with all kinds of bells & whistles. It has good padding on the shoulder and where the bag would rest on the hip if you were carrying it. The zippers appear to be bomb-proof. Lots of pockets, one carabiner for hanging stuff off it, water proof bottom section. It even has a little "window" for carrying long stuff (at a guess). I was actually going to fleabay mine but given the quality I'm going to keep it.

The tool box is really nice and sturdy. The tools - not much to say really as I haven't used them yet. However they seem of good quality.

Someone on fleabay bought this set for $179… without the bag!

At $99 I think this is a very good deal. For anyone that got it even cheaper… rock on!

  • Still a few of these around in South Australia. I recently learned the included set of pliers are in fact made by Facom which are of excellent quality. (French made)
