I was looking to change my wipers on the car so I went to super cheap auto and was in absolute shock that wipers are $50 each had a Quick Look online and found the same one for almost half the price. Also a 15 percent discount .

Managed to price match in store saved myself $50.

Sharing in case anyone finds themselves in the same sitch

Don't think we should be shafting these smaller suppliers using price match against these conglomerates. Without them we'd be paying a lot more.

100%. If you can pick up or get free shipping you should support these guys, every time I've checked a random part they're cheaper than Amazon or Supercheap auto

    • Agreed but was just too far.

Amazing people in this store, most of them are in later 50s, I would just go and buy there stuffs without price match.

    • +2

Yeah 100 percent agree would definitely do that it’s just on the other side of town.

      • +3

If u dont want extra infor, it's not my problems.

What Zov is trying to uphold is probably good old value where people supporting older/more sensior people. These days, 50s are not old. But for my generation, 50s means approaching retirement and often means less options in term of job opportunity compared with the younger ones. Of course there are many who doing very well in their 50s too. It's just a thing that is built into our thinking. I personally would support a small business ran by some good 50 something instead of a big listed ASX corporate.

  • How to know when to change the wipers?

I rate these Bosch wipers and use the Bosch wipers myself, with a regular splash of wiper-fluid cleaner, but it has been about 5 years already now, and they still do not streak nor sound like they're dragging across the windscreen.

    • +4

If you remove the dust and grime of them regularly they last longer.

Normally when I service my car they suggest changing the wipers at some exorbitant fee which I decline and do it myself

      • Is there a length of time or do I just wait for the 'streaking' across the windscreen?

        • +1

I wouldn’t wait that would damage your windscreens. Don’t think there’s a length of time depends how much you use them. I would just ask for the opinion when you service the car . If you check them you’ll know anyway they would look worn down if they need changing

        • +2

Just wait for the streaking, and it's good advice to regularly clean them

why buy blades when you can buy refills..?

        • This is the answer. It boggles the mind that people throw away perfectly good wiper blades instead of replacing the rubbers using refills.

Run auto parts are great, use them all the time and their bosch parts are always well priced and postage super quick. Im not affiliated with them in any way but highly recommend

+1 for Run Auto Parts. Purchased our last Bosch set off there.

  • How do you find blades for make model year etc .

    • +1

Super cheap auto have a good tool on their website where you can put your number plate and it tells you if the blades are compatible.

    • Looked for this also and found it here - Bosch Aftermarket Supplies https://online.autoinfo.com.au/oscar/boschautomotiveaftermar…

Best way is to measure wipers. Do the car in service mode, pull wipers up and measure.
Bosch and Supercheap auto tools tell me wrong measurements. Always.

  • Niddrie? But too far west for me…. Any good options out east?

    • +1

You can price match SCA otherwise I guess they deliver for a certain amount

Well done for sharing and supporting locals, have picked up a few.

Best wipers going around! Thanks for spreading the word OP.

    • They’re pretty good and very easy to install

  • +1

I recently installed these too. They work great. Does anyone know if the rubber blades themselves are refillable for Bosch Aerotwin?

    • Yes. $10 for 2 generic refills is enough for the front two blades + rear

      • Where can I get just these refills from please?

        • Autobarn, supercheap and most other auto stores sell refills.

  • Can anybody tell me how to figure out what will fit a Kia Cerato 2019 hatchback? I am trying to find a rear wiper.. even if it's just the rubber part, but I can't find how. I've tried googling and Supercheap auto website, but I don't find it clear.

    • Worst case you can just measure it by tape and go buy one with the same lengths

    • You can use Supercheap auto website to find out with the my garage function

      • I tried.. it's not clear as it doesn't come up with a rear option in the bosch

The bosch wiper blades are heaps cheaper on Automotive Superstore. The twin pack sets from $47.
    https://automotivesuperstore.com.au/catalogsearch/result/?q=…

    • Think that’s a different product not too sure though.

That product is the same price in super cheap auto which made me doubt. Why would SCA price a single more expensive than the twin.

      I could be wrong

  • +3

The rubber on Bosch Wiper blades is refillable with generics, for around $10 for both front blades + back. Lots of options of AliExpress/Amazon. No need to wastefully throw out the entire housing just to change the rubber.

Interestingly the blades by wiper tech are frustratingly non refillable (or at least are too difficult to be viable).

    • What key words would I search for to ensure an accurate match please?

  • What is the "to Local Area" part of the title? I don't see any evidence of this

  • Do the other A1 stores list the same price. Seems only nidrie has a website for selling.

  • Amazon's also worth a look — did a cursory search to compare prices and found my set for $41.48
