SENNHEISER Momentum On-Ear Headphone $163.85 at JB

240

Can't comment on quality of these (as a non-audiophile), but these have dropped down from $299 (45%) off.

Best price a quick search showed up was $264 in AUS, and $229US and £169.95 in the respective countries.

Looks like my mother was wrong, we can have nice things!!

  • Very good price, much better looking than Beats too!

I'd prefer the over ear ones but they're much pricier

$265 inc shipping at eGlobal Merlict.

      • Thanks!

    • I love my over ear ones.

Something for some to keep in mind is that for those with larger ears, the 'over ear' model does supposedly sit on the ear for some also. The cups on them aren't massive. My ears fit inside them fine, but results may vary.

  • How does this compare to the Sennheiser Amperior or the HD 25 i-ii?

  • hmm I just bought the Amperior like 1 week ago: (

    • The amperior deal for $160 was outstanding, I wouldn't be disappointed with buying them.

  • cant believe the price~!!!!!i have momentum, definitely love them. far better than those philips uptown/downtown. it is a steal at this price.

  • nice find, even my 3 yrs old son loves it, everytime we walked passed he wanna put it on.
i must resist, i dont need new headphones…

Please note these are the On-ears, they're smaller than the original Momentums, have a slightly different sound signature.
Bass is nice on both, sq wise - they're both a bit bassier, I wouldn't call their mids and trebles, "crisp" per se, but there are those who disagree obviously, and I'm sure Sennheiser made both of these to go straight up against the market which like Beats By Dre.
Comfort on both are amazingly comfortable, with the On-ears a bit smaller (and a bit lighter).

If you would like to listen to them, I know Myer Sydney City (Sydney CBD) have both on display, you just got to call out one of the assistants to open the glass display's lock and.. awkwardly look at you while you try them on.

    Very good price though.

  • What a great price. Cheaper than Amazon. I have set my eye on this one for a few months now. JB HI, you did it again. I am still waiting for your Sony battery pack. Can't resist at this price. This on ear is perfect for traveling as it is not smaller than the over ear version though less comfortable I believe especially if you are wearing glasses.

  • If anyone regretted getting the Philips Uptown deal and wanted to get this one instead, I would be glad to take it the Philips Uptown off you for $44 (new, COD in Sydney CBD).

Then you can justify this purchase by saying you doubled the money on the Philips (who knows you might do the same with this!). Disclaimer: what are the chances but still…

  • Is this another pricing error?
    $263.85 instead of $163.85?

    • I was thinking along the same line, LOL.

  • I was at jbhifi earlier and it is also priced at $163.85 in store (Bourke St, Melbourne)

  • Looks as though it was a pricing error.

Good deal for those who bought it ;)

    • It's still discounted in-store, though only the blue model. Saw it at Bourke Street, Melbourne this morning.

      • Not at my store Jb HiFi Belconnen (checked this morning around 9).

  • JB is posting my order out today. I felt this is not a price error but they are pushing a few out to reach a certain sale quota.

  • missed! :'(

  • Might still be in some stores, considering getting it, but i just bought a Sennheiser RS180 and the Amperior as well i have the HD25 i-ii Adidas..decisions…

It would be interesting to get your though on the Amperior and HD25 as they are a generation difference. Would you be getting the Amperior again since you have listen to both and you already own the HD25?

This headphone is a winner. It has different characteristic as my HD25. I know it is not neutral but wow it sounds so interesting. If I would pick a winner, it will be this Momentum. It is more comfortable and lighter than the HD25 for sure. I will buy it's big brother when the price is right. It sounds better with the Asus Xonar Essence STX than with my phone.

    • Now I'm regretting on not getting one :'(

    • This headphone is a winner. It has different characteristic as my HD25. I know it is not neutral but wow it sounds so interesting.

Now switch back to the HD25s. :p
And you'll notice what the Momentum's sound misses out on.. well not miss out, "focuses" on.

If I would pick a winner, it will be this Momentum.

That's disappointing because I just bought amperiors from StoreDJ, and I wasn't too impressed with the On-Ear Momentum's sound at myer. Wouldn't pay the RRP for sure for the original Momentums either, their sound is too warm for me, too much emphasis on the bass, it's like a fusion between a sennheiser product and a beats product, it's got that nice soft rumble for bass but still retains mids and highs, although to me, it's as if the mids and highs were deliberately toned down :(

It is more comfortable and lighter than the HD25 for sure.

I think that's got to do with the Momentum On-Ear's pad material and the HD25's deathclamp. The original Momentums are definitely very nice with the spacious leather (probably highquality pleather) material.
