If I take out $200 on my INGDirect card, would I still get charged $2.50?

    • +3

      ING will credit $2.50

  • You should get rebate for the fee from my understanding.

  • So… balance inquiries will be going through the roof?

I drive a 4 cylinder sedan with a vapour injected LPG system, which has paid for itself a couple of years ago. Average fuel use on LPG is 8.3L/100km, previously the car was averaging 7.9L/100km when running on petrol. There's not much difference in drivability between the two fuels. 8c/L off with Coles minus 2% with ING, plus lop off another 5c with this offer. Nice.

        • Cluster, mind if I ask what car is that?

        • if merely considering fuel consumption, i'm doing 5.5L/100km average with 5% off petrol on top of any woolworths 4/8/12c discount dockets.

but cluster's scenerio with coles leverages the best discounts for shell kiosks.

        • Previously Barina, then Hyundai excel, now Getz. All about 5 to 6 L/100km.Cheap to buy, repair & drive.
Oh yeah electric pushbike 45km range which costs 34 cents. So 75.5 cents/100km.
Think I need a sail for it.

        • can't fit 2 babyseats on it plus a pram or a range of 200km, otherwise i would've got a electric pushbike.

Great deal.. And how much is your fuel for? oooh thats not important. its just 180c/l… But the big picture is that you get 5c off a litre… great deal.. even if other petrol stations are selling their fuel for 160c/l they do not offer 5c/l off but us. yaaaayyyyyyyy

    • iawtp, its a good point because coles and woolies oft are more expensive than elsewhere. If they are the same, then you are 5c/l ahead. :) But this deal is probably trying to catch others out with transaction fees to pay for the perceived saving.

  • +15

cool. just got a 16cents off voucher .

fuel is $1.51 at the nearest coles petrol station.

will take out $200 with ING to get $2.50 rebate and extra 5c off per litre. so 21 cents off.
pay for tank of fuel with ING car and get 5% off.
5% off per litre at say $1.30 (after 21 cents off voucher) means I get fuel for about $1.25

    • +2

$1.25 is about right pricing for petrol in Australia……

    • The one i got from the ATM said in the fine print that max combination discount that can be applied is 9c.
So thats a 4c voucher plus this 5c. so i think combining it with 8c or 16c wont work.

      • I just did this and my ATM voucher didn't have this condition, and the discount was processed fine.

    • How did you get a 16c voucher?

  • +2

Coles /woollies are usually the same price as independent petrol stations. At times I see them 1or2c more expensive. But there are times when they are 1/2c less aswell

    • +1

It varies mostly where you live, I live in regional area, and woolies/coles are usually around 4 cents more. At moment $1.58 for coles vs independent at $1.51. This deal is no good for people away from capital cities too, since there's usually no coles atms around, closest one for me is 50km. I'm sure many will benefit from this deal with more choice.

    • +3

I usually find only woolies is about the same price as the independents. Coles is usually about 3 cents more expensive than the rest

      • +1

Local woollies servos are same as shell here… 2c more before discount all the time.. makes this deal 3c… big whoopee !! ??

Their piddling discount was worth something back when it was introduced… most are waste of time now. If they were genuine they would offer % off so benefit would remain constant. They wont do that.

None of the supermarket servos near here sell the good premium fuel which makes it worse.

    • Around here they are often different and there is a HUGE variance between the Coles and Woolies servos themselves though out the area.

In reality you aren't saving money through fuel dockets (they grocery and/or fuel prices are simply inflated) and the main problem is as they slowly wipe out the competition from independents they will charge whatever the hell they want for fuel. So support your local independent I say….

    • South of the river in Perth, the very cheapest is usually a couple of coles/woolies servos (current is coles causarina), the rest are very high. So you have to travel 10+ km to get to a cheapie.
I now have x6 jerrycans and for 2 years have managed 98c/l to 1.20c/l with all the discounts.
I think in the 1990's petrol was 95c/l so where's inflation gone. They should hike petrol maybe?

  • OP, are you seeing this promo in the shop? I can't seem to find this promo on their website though.

  • And if you have a Coles Mastercard, the balance enquiry is free. This will make up for the fuel discounts they took away, which they used to have on the bottom of the statement.

    • Hi frozensolid. I can't find any reference to the Coles MC being fee free on Coles ATM's. Have you (or anyone else) been able to get a fuel (or any other) voucher by checking your balance without incurring the $1 fee?

  • Also at Coles you collect flybuys points (if you got flybuys)

Can anyone please confirm if you can use in conjunction with the recent 8c/L voucher?

    • Yes you can

      • Hi, Do you work at Coles Express ?

The fine print says one thing and this post says another: http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/119606#comment-1638509.

The fine print on your receipt doesn't have any information about max 9c discount !

        • Yeah I do, not sure where that other post came from but sometimes they will amend deals after they start due to printing errors.

As an example, Currently fly buys has a bonus printout that gives 5x fly buys points which the customer can re-use until a set date, unfortunately on the print out it says for the operator to destroy after scanning. They've now sent out a memo rectifying this.

It was a probably a printing error on the first day that was subsequently rectified. My wife had a 22c voucher and I used it in conjunction with a 5c voucher and we got the full 27c off.

I should mention even though I work there I can not speak on behalf of coles express or the business in general and any opinion I express is solely my own.

      • Yes, I have confirmed this also.
I recently created a triple stacked discount:

        • 5c off ATM voucher (using ING)
        • 8c off regular coles voucher
        • 10c Flybuys voucher purchased for 1000pts.

        = 23c/L discount
+ used it on two cars, no problems.
        http://tinypic.com/r/2ajbek8/5

    • Yes.

Here is a receipt with 2 stacked coupons…
      http://imgur.com/UAMNiRA

  • So the 5c fuel discount offer with ATM use is until when?

  • x4 vouchers in a row looks like the limit.
Using my ING debit card (so no fees), I intended to withdraw $200 x5, for x5 5c p/l vouchers (travelling round Oz next month.
On the fifth try the atm said "unable to read card" or similar, tried again and the same error. So x4 looks like the limit.
    Anyway, used the 5c & 8c vouchers, and approx 7c p/l (5%) ING rebate so ~20c p/l off on 81 litres.
