I know right? Around half of the shows that have started again in the past couple of weeks have failed to complete automatically and I've been forced to queue them manually.
Astraweb and NZBgeek have been working fine for me. Haven't had a bad/incomplete DL of anything for almost a year. Using Sickbeard and CouchPotato just fine.
Me ether - using a block account as backup for missing pieces.
I have a yearly unlimited usenetserver account (EDIT: about $8 a month USD cost) which I use for the majority of data, but being a US based usenet provider they do honour DCMA takedowns fairly quickly.
That is why I also have a Tweaknews (Dutch, I believe) account to act as DCMA filler :)
Tried Tweaknews, and a bunch of other EU servers. No different. Private tracks have been serving me fine.

Are these exclusive indexers immune to DMCA takedowns, or is the takedown happening at the usenet server level, and therefore you're still affected?

If anyone can throw me an invo to any other good indexer I'd appreciate it, I've learnt its best to have a backup one.

I've been using NewsDeamon http://www.newsdemon.com/ for my provider. Pretty sure there is a coupon floating about for 15% off bringing the monthly cost down to $9 or so i think. Download speed can hit 10.5MB a sec if i let it run free and It very rarely has missing blocks.Picked up an unlimited account from these guys for $5/month lifetime (thanks again OZBargain) - don't use it that much but at that price it's almost throwaway.
Love it … good for porn, music, ebooks and a catchall for rare content. Good for anything really other than executables and scripting (eg pdfs).
As with all block accounts, this is only good value if you don't download much per month. If you're a heavy downloader you'll get much better value with an unlimited account, which will cost around $10.
Indeed, however 1 TB is still a decent amount of content.
Unlimited accounts are $20 p/m, which is probably better to grab for one month if you are going to down more than 1 TB in the one month.
Blocks can also be shared with other people, and supports 50 individual SSL connections.
The best part is that they never expire, so they're good for life.
