      • I've fixed the deal title, but please read our Deal Title Guidelines for info on how to write proper deal titles that are easy for users to understand.

The expected title format is as follows:

        Product name, Price @ MyStorename

    • Hey, I didn't sign up to ozbargain to read. I’m on here because Reddit kicked me out since I said we should nuke emus.

  • thats pretty good. 9am-8pm aedt. do they have newsbin search included?

  • Hey Marlon, thankyou for posting this, I am happy you did! 🥳

You did a great deal submission with all the key information. Enough to get the attention of anyone who already uses or wants usenet service.

I had never heard of this provider, and it is a much better price than nearly all others I know about. I only know that now because you posted this deal.

It is a really great deal. I very much appreciate that you took the time and effort, to share it with us! Especially as your first deal post.

    Marlon rocks! 😀

    • This comment reminds me so much of the tardblog.

I'm genuinely grateful for the deal post, and wasn't intending to reflect that site in tone or substance. So that's a fail by me! I had to pull out my dial-up archive machine to remember that site.

Side note: I miss bash (now hosted on qdb.lol) from that era.

Check out Frugal when Black Friday comes along. Having a Sydney server is awesome, and you also get a bonus block from a whole seperate backbone each year, too

    • Yah, some interesting bundles spanning T1s now. I hadn't kept current on the back-ends, and ended up with overlaps without realising (until I checked fill stats in my logs). This usenight is ABV.

    • Do you know which backbone the block account is on?

Also what is the recommended setup these days to minimise incomplete downloads? I've got unlimited accounts with Frugal and NewsGroup Ninja so that's Netnews and Highwinds. Then I've got old block accounts from Black Friday deals over the years with Usenet Farm, Cheapnews and Tweaknews.

        Have you considered torbox?

They have a Sydney server and you can stream without having to download.

Torbox also has webdav so I set that up on my quest so I can browse my library.

It's $16 per month or $10 on Black Friday, for Usenet and torrent account unlimited.

You can bring your own providers setup through jackett, hydra or sonnar/radarr.

For indexers I've did actual tests Matrix, NZB.life and NZBgeek have the most content.

        • I do have the TorBox Essential plan from last year's Black Friday deal but I never really found a use case for it over using RD. Even then I've gone away from Stremio gone back to the arrs/Plex. How do you find the cache of TB?

Also how is it watching media on your quest? That sounds like a use case I'd def be interested in!

        Backbone is Abavia

      • It’s blocknews I believe. Theres a map above.

Either way just add them all to your Usenet client (or use sabnzbd if not already) and it’ll just rotate through as it downloads. Can’t hurt.

Also recommend a good indexer. I use Ninjacentral and rarely have problems

  • Genuine questions, I'm Usenet noobs.
What do people use Usenet for?
Any usenet101 documents I can start my journey from?

Thank you so much for your help.

    • Read my comment above.

If you go with Torbox there's literally no setup required.

Means you don't need other programs and you don't need to download onto your PC.

    • This is a good guide for Usenet, and you can go as far as setting up a self hosted, fully automated media box:

      https://blog.decryption.net.au/posts/usenet-plex-sabnzbd-son…

  • What's usenet like these days? I use to use it back in the days but then all the archives would get DMCA'd so even with the PAR2 files what was left was useless.

    • +1

I don’t get any DMCA notices.

But generally, it’s smarter to use servers based in the Netherlands rather than the U.S., as the Netherlands tends to ignore DMCA requests.

For Stremio, you really can’t beat Easynews and Torbox with Easynews, you don’t even need an indexer.

For Plex or Jellyfin, Newshosting and Torbox are great options.

Newshosting makes downloads super easy since it has its own built-in program (no indexer needed).

While Torbox lets you set up a virtual drive that integrates directly with Plex or Jellyfin.

  • So UseNight appears to be owned by TurboUsenet.

Both of which usually offer a 25% Off Black Friday deal.
