Bargain Reposting

If a deal is still current, how much time should pass before it is reposted, that is if it should be reposted at all?

jiggly, The policy as it stands is to not post duplicates. But the unwritten rule is if it has been a long time since the deal has been posted then it's OK.

In the TPG case, 47 people found it useful and the last time it was posted was 217 days ago, so IMO worthy of the repost.

I guess we (the community) need to come up with a consensus of duplicate times or maybe a way to bring the old deal back as new. I don't know.

    Anyone have any thoughts?

  • i read that post. everyone needs to take it easy please.

I'd say a common sense rule would come into effect however everyone has a different "version" of common sense. I'd like to think if the vast majority of people found it useful, then it should be fine but the original person who posted the bargain should be recredited :)

OK, another example we had someone post Free Pet IDs tags, last time it was posted was 252 days ago and it was popular. This time around it garnered duplicate comments and negative votes, removed.

    One more, Buzzbox Deal http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/12025
    is a duplicate of http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/6649
posted 218 days ago, but this repost garnered positive votes and comments.

Very inconsistent. So still the advice is to never post duplicates but if one slips by remove unless there is positive comments/voting towards keeping it up.

For me, there are too many deals to go through already so I would rather not see duplicates. If reposting is going to be allowed, I would like to see definite guidelines on time elapsed to avoid confusion and arguments.
