Actually the 64GB is cheaper than the 32GB with cover for some reasons :)

$394 (so $2 more than Harvey Norman) but my experience from JB has been far better than Harvey Norman, their sales people (again from my experience) are rude and they don't have much product knowledge. Then if you're looking for something that they deem not worthy of their time (low commission) they aren't interested in helping you other than trying to up sell you.

The whole point of these tablets are that they can double as a kind of ultrabook as well as a tablet. You still get a windows desktop, you can still store files and access them easily. It is a laptop with the option of disconnecting the keyboard and using it as a tablet. It has the added bonus of having easy to access files through usb flash drives (or you can even just attach a full portable hdd to it, hell you could attach a 2tb desktop hdd through the usb if you wanted to have insane storage).
It is a bridge between ultrabooks and tablets.
Windows RT doesnt have windows desktop and cannot run new windows app
While I'd hardly call it laptop/ultrabook like, I believe rekabkram was referring to the desktop file manager, which RT has.
Windows RT very much does have a windows desktop, it's just that there's really nothing you can do on it other than file management since you can't install regular desktop programs.

Well the surface rt that I'm typing on right now has a windows desktop. I can access C drive and do file management.
It uses the windows rt app store in a very similar way to iPads and androids, but with the added file access and management that comes with a windows desktop.
Also yes there will be an update for windows 8.1 but they have pulled the update because of a glitch that affected 0.1% of the users that has updated.

No you can't. The only programs you can install are Apps from the Windows Store.

Yes, although as above the 8.1 Update was pulled from the store. Not sure if it's back up yet, but it is free whenever it's available.
I picked one up from JB today, I'd still rather give them $2 more than deal with Harvey Norman. (64gb with touch cover).
