Deal from Amazon sellers or foreign eBay sellers

We should ban the amazon deals or foreign Ebay deals

  1. Price is variable depending on currency exchange => price variable, price stated is not indicative
  2. They do not pay tax in our tax system => damaging our economy
  3. Most of these posts violated the posting rules => no. 5 the title should include location.

It will be good if ozbargain pays attention to this

  • Price is variable depending on currency exchange => price variable, price stated is not indicative

    • Foreign deals represent 22% of front page deals.

    • Daily exchange rates don't fluctuate substantially. Take a look at the last 5 days US-AUS for example.
      Day 1 .9655 at 6:00 GMT
      Day 2 .9646
      Day 3 .9655
      Day 4 .9615

    So for a $100 product, that's:
    $103.45
    $103.54
    $103.45
    $103.85

    So really .4% at most.

Well, the tax is true but it's a consumer site where we are looking for the best bargains.

I assume you are pointing to the title guidelines.

    5:

Location. City/suburb and state (e.g. Abbotsford, VIC) if specific to an area.

That's saying that if the deal is specific to an area to list it. For example, if you need to go to a store located in Sydney, NSW write that. If the item is shipped to you, there is no point of putting an area.

    Hi!

  • +4

So… we can only buy goods locally. Gerry is that you?

I'd give a more detailed response, but neil covered it all well.

  • Why not extend this theory further - let's not post any deals of things made in China, because they are not made here.

Or deals where there are variable postage costs according to where you live in Australia.

    Let's ban them all LOL!

  • Well, concerning point #2:

Many overseas products are not even available in Australia. Secondly, if the tax system means business can't compete, then it's the tax system that's wrong - not consumers. The less money feeding a broken tax system the better.

One reason so many people hunt so hard for lower prices is because the government steals so much of their money in tax. I think the highest tax rate is around 48-49% - and they want superannuation increased to 15%. That's nearly two-thirds of your wage gone before you even see it!

Finally, it's not like they're doing a good job with the money they steal. I regularly see roads ripped up and resurfaced for no apparent reason (while others riddled with potholes are ignored) - so local councils don't receive less money in next year's budget allocation… Public buses driving around with one or two (or none!) people on board…

Maybe that's what it's going to take - the closing of most Australian businesses and the system collapsing - for people to realise what useless, interfering thieves the current system of government are, and for us to revolt and throw them all out on their ear.

  • We should ban the amazon deals or foreign Ebay deals

only if not available to australia direct from the deal website without needing a 3rd party forwarder such as priceusa or shipto

    as per http://www.ozbargain.com.au/wiki/help:deal_posting_guidelineā€¦

DEALS that are available to Australia.

  • They do not pay tax in our tax system => damaging our economy

Well, they have to pay a fee to Auspost to deliver the product.
