Sea Freight, Air Freight, Best Deal Shipping a Box to Canada???

Hi all, just wondering if any of you guys know if Sea Freight is worth doing in order to ship a (24) box of BBQ Shapes to Canada? Is Air Freight better, despite cost?

Also, what would be the cheapest/quickest/reliable method to ship to Canada? What would you use?

  • Sorry I can't help except to say, mail going out is horrendously horrendous, whereas mail coming in is reasonable.

  • They'd probably be a bit soggy by the time they arrived

  • I send stuff to/from Canada somewhat regularly. Sending them by Sea can easily take 3-4 months… Send them by air!

  • They're going to be horrendously expensive to send!
You'll pay by volume cause the weight is negligible.
FedEx used to do a shipping box for $50 that you'd get close to 24 packs into.. (might have to remove the boxes and just send the bags though)

  • They must really want those BBQ Shapes.

It may be cheaper to buy them from an Oz food shop and have them ship them to them, like this:

    https://www.simplyoz.com/products/on_sale_-_limited_quantiti…

    • That website is in the USA not Canada so it won't help. Plus when you ship from the US to Canada the reciever generally recieves a big tax bill for the duty on the items as well.

  • Cheapy,

Also make sure you declare that it is a gift and that it is valued at less than $50 (if that's the case). If it is valued at more than $50, customs will often hit the recipeint with GST and/or duty on the declared value.

If tax is charged, the shipper might also charge a "brokerage" fee. If you use Austraila Post the fee is usually only around $5 (again charged to the recipient), beware using other private shiping companies like Fedex or UPS the are known for charging huge $30-$60 "brokerage" fees.

Your best bet is likely just to send it airmail, especially if you want it to arrive before christmas, as you've already missed the boat for seamail for xmas, See: http://auspost.com.au/about-us/christmas-sea-mail.html

  • Thank you for the responses. Ill send it Airmail.
