  • Wow, great price plus $100 store credit!

  • +1

How are the reviews for this?

    • -6
      • I actually got a Nexus 7 32GB for 150 bucks today, was wondering if I should get it back. Thanks for saving me the trip.

        • -7

you're welcome. In my opinion, Android tablets are only best in 7" screen (as the Androids apps are only as good on Phones not on proper tablets). Anything more than 7", the streched Apps will ruin the overall user experience (i.e. 2-3 months later, you'll stop liking it).

        • I am in the exact same shoe but I have decided to return my Nexus 7 32GB got for $150 and getthing this one.

The review means nothing. The iPad 4th costs around $500. They are not in the same league.

        • +1

this is definitely a good "full size" tablet at a very good price. i guess your nexus 7 is 2012 version. good choice to return that one for this fhd. i already have a retina android 10" tablet as well as a retina ipad and a nexus7 2013, but am still considering this asus one. the price is too good to pass.

        • -4

not suprising i get negs. this is an 10.1" Android tablet listing.

      • +1

Not a good start to that review from the iPad buyer's point of view.

"These two aren't really competitors as the iPad is significantly more expensive than the Memo pad"… !!!

        • -4

Name one tablet that can beat Ipad in any price range.

        • i didnt neg you, but now you are obviously an apple fanboy.

        • -3

No, im no Apple fan boy as i have used a few Android tablets in the past. That is my personal experience and in comparison Ipad is a superior tablet. Hardware Specs is the only thing that Android can come up with to attack Ipad but not Software. I own a couple Android phones. Android is running fine on Mobiles (I am quite happy with them) but not Tablets.

    • +2

My neighbour got this tablet this week and is more than happy with it.
I had it for a day and really liked it and my son will probably get one for Christmas.
It's far better than the el cheapos around and you aren't paying for a fruity logo on the back either.
Sure, if you want that last bit of perfection then open your wallet a bit further but I think some of these reviews are being overly picky.
The screen looked fine to me and I didn't find anything wrong with it's response or viewing angle. Are you really going to be looking at it from much beyond directly in front anyway?
It already packs 32GB of storage and has a slot for more if you need it.
It will read a USB flash drive if you have the OTG cable and connects to a HDMI port on a TV. Both cables are very cheap on ebay.
For the price it looks hard to beat.

  • Very good deal with the $100 credit. but the spec listed seemed wrong, 1920x1200 should be 16:10 aspect.

    • If the pixels were square….wonder how round a circle would look if it really is 16:9?

  • Is the STore credit of $100 valid for Online orders as well. I am currently abroad and planning to order online. Also since the claim form is online, so I guess it should not be a problem.

    • You are right…

P.S: I tried in store today and they mentioned (all)TGG got only white color…

  • +1

Judging by this review it seems to be a reasonable tab with excellent value.

  • Anyone got a tablet with an equivalent Intel CPU? (EG Galaxy Tab 3 10.1?) What's the gaming performance like?

    • +2

      check this:
      http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HJpy5I3wu3E
"in short", it is pretty good. it is excellent at this price.

      • +1

Hmm. high end gaming seems to be an issue since the GPU is not really powerful. But otherwise it looks to be the one of the best tablets in the mid-range category. Thanks for the video — pulled the trigger after watching it (and $330 poorer).

        • +1

$230 poorer. will buy one myself tomorrow.

        • What color did you buy?

        • I have no idea. Do I get to choose? I don’t see a color picker.

  • Yeah after looking at the reviews, I'm going to grab one tomorrow too. :D

  • seems like a good deal if you can make use of the credit. anyone have any experience palming off these store credits for a 10% loss or something?

    • you cant make use of $100 in one whole year?

      • Valid until 2/2/14

      • as stated, these credits usually have a use-by of only a couple of months. and no, I can't think of anything I'd want to buy even given a longer time frame. you have suggestions?

        • +1

you can use the credit to buy GIFT CARD which will be valid for one year.

  • Fwiw mine is white. :(

I wish they gave $100 for a whole year, but I'm sure I can find something to spend it on. :D

    • yes, I think they are all white from Goodguys

  • Well unlike my n7 miracast actually appears to work good this. Go figure!

  • Got mine! Screen is nice and beautiful.

Wish there was a way to view the battery percentage in the status bar though. NVM, Power Toggles does this.

  • real upgrade from my Toshiba at300 nice and light great for me

  • +1

Spewing they have nothing but white in store, I don't see the logic in having a black facia with a white back, it looks tacky, all white fair enough but half and half ?. I spent almost an hour playing with one in store anyway and I couldn't really fault it for the price, did everything I expected. Interested to know if the online purchasers get a black one like the picture, cause it doesn't seem likely.

    • Looking at the side of the box they come in three colours, really dark blue (Looks like black in product shot), purple and white. Mine was white (Purchased in store)so it's looking like most of their store stock is white.

    • +1

it looks tacky, all white fair enough but half and half ?

IMO it looks better, since the display is completely uniform with the bezel when it's off. But then I hate white devices as a rule anyway

  • I hope this tab will get kitkat, are asus good when it comes to support? I'm just used to the nexus line, but I figure this should at least get 4.4 at somepoint.

    • They have international warranty.

    • +1

They aren't too bad - they were regarded as one of the better OEM's for this a year or so ago. The Transformer Infinity (TF700) and TF300 are both on 4.2.1 - though they abandoned the TF201 on 4.1.1, even though it also ran a Tegra 3.

I'd say this will get upgraded to KitKat, but I'm not sure how their new pricing approach (they seem to be racing to the bottom, TBH) will impact updates following this. I guess it also depends on how well Intel supports CloverTrail.

  • What surprised me that this tab plays asphalt 8 on high. I'm surprised because the game looks crap on my old nexus 7, and I assumed that the gpu in this tab is just as bad or perhaps worse… Anyhow I was looking for a way to the root the tab and found this.

"On the same topic (kinda of) just teste Asphalt 8 on our Memo FHD against Nexus 7 (2013) and it looks better on the Memo…
I think Gameloft might recompiled the game to use x86, because Asphalt 7 "runs" a bit poorly on the Memo FHD… I hope other dev's do the same."

  • any one managed to find a cover for this tablet in australia???

    • You can find some around $15 shipped from ebay sellers.

    • Nikunj,

I am after a cover too. Let me know if you find something.

      Thanks.

      • Hi I bought this as temporary cover..

        • Thanks for the link Nikunj

I went to my local GG store to buy my first ever tablet :) and in true ozbargain spirit asked for their best price and the guy said he will take $10 off and make $319. So I bought one and it is a very nice tablet.

    • +2

Remember tgg has that 30 day 120% guarantee.

      http://www.thegoodguys.com.au/buyonline/content/Price_Guaran…

according to the other thread on this tablet, it was recently as low as $299. So just keep an eye out, might be able to get some money back. :)

Also there's been a few firmware updates for this tablet since being released. Mine wouldn't update ota, so I had to do a manual update. Its currently on 4.7.2. Interesting, appears there is another update today since I updated mine, its at 4.7.3 now. :D

Firmware update can be found here:

      http://www.asus.com/au/Tablets_Mobile/ASUS_MeMO_Pad_FHD_10/#…

And here's a guide that shows how to manually update:

      http://www.transformerforums.com/forum/guides-tips-tricks/35…

I hope that helps. Goodluck! :)

      • I haven't been able to update to 4.7.3. it gives me a Green Android with a red triangle for a brief moment when I manually update using the provided ZIP file and on the next boot it tells the update failed.

Might try 4.7.2 and see what happens.

        • No problems for me, but I was already on 4.7.2. Are you using the correct build? I'd assume they all should be WW for us.

        • Yeah, I'm using WW.

    • Damn I got $323.. I knew they could do better! haha

  • Thanks, bought one.

  • Anyone got the Store Credit on this yet ? I am looking to purchase few stuff from TGG this weekend and the store credit will really help.

  • I am still waiting …

  • same unfortunately

  • waiting and no way to check the status.

  • Nothing here yet…

They still have a week to go:
"Store Credit will be emailed to customers no later than the 02/12/2013 and will be valid until 02/02/2014."

  • Still no store credit.

  • Nothing for me, either.

  • Did everyone receive their credit yet?

    • Got mine yesterday

  • No for me

  • Still waiting. Maybe TGG forgets us.

  • I just got mine. Hopefully you guys have yours too.

  • Mine just turned up in email

  • The same here but had gone to my Promotion folder in gmail.
