  • Delivery kills it.

Plus you can get 680's and 7970's for less that perform largely identical to the 770 (maybe even slightly better depending on what you play); after all the 770 is largely a re-branded GTX 680 with a mild OC.

Hopefully after NVidia drops the 780 Ti; both the 780 and 770 will see a good price drop and become really competitive.

    • Re. Delivery - you can pick it up if you're from Melbourne.

Hmm, you're right re. 680's and 7970's, but you'd be hard pressed to find a 680 for below $350. So a non-clearance price on a 770 for $389 is pretty good.

I doubt it'd drop more than $30 - $40 after the 780 Ti is here though. The 770, at $389, is already comparable to the R9 280X, which is a little cheaper at around $370-ish, so after the 780 Ti launch, I'd expect it to drop to around $350. Also note that until very recently, the GTX 670 was still going for $299. So, the 770 will probably sit around the $350 mark till it's EOL and then gets cleared. Similarly, the 780 is now around $630 (EVGA from PCCG), which is cheaper than the R9 290X, which is going for around $699.

So yeah, prices should remain pretty stagnant tbh.

I disagree. All of the stores are desperately trying to shed GTX stock as the GTX 780Ti will put huge downward pressure on the mid-tier stuff. It's a great time to be in the market, but only from late next week. Sit tight and don't buy a new video card for now, the price crash is coming.

        • Finally someone who speaks some sense.

When something is so obviously about to happen, pays to sit tight and wait it out for a few weeks.

Yes, but when the GTX770 has a US RRP of $329, you can't possibly expect the Australian GTX770 to drop far below this $389, given that you have to factor in 10% GST and the current exchange rate.

Like, factoring in the exchange rate and GST, that $329 already becomes like $389, so this is still a pretty good deal.

But sure, by all means wait for the GTX780 Ti release if you want, but again, I doubt prices will change much.

      • you can pick it up if you're from Melbourne.

Over 75% of Australia doesn't live in Melbourne; so statistically that doesn't make the lowest price for this deal feasible for a majority.

Agreed. I don't see how AMD's and NVidia's two, single-core, higher-end GPUs from the current generation can realistically fall below the $300 and $400 dollar mark respectively in the Australian market (which is where people would want them to be). America is a different story but historically, you've never seen the GTX 470/480/570/580 or the Radeon 4870/4890/5870/6970 go below $300/$400 while they were the current generation. Especially NVidia, who always follows very rigid price schedules.

    • Disagree. According to Anandtech, across Far Cry 3, Infinite, Crysis 3, BF3, 770 gets almost 25% higher frames @ 1080p with ultra settings.

I still think it's a good deal atm, nice spotting OP.
