CPL Computer Parts Land Reviews?

Hi, has anyone shopped from CPL (computer parts land) http://www.cplonline.com.au/
if so how was your experience with them?
I did a quick google search and only found negatives however their prices are some of the best I've been able to find anywhere within Australia and reasonable postage.

Cheers.

They seem to be well received on ozbargain.

  • I have heard bad things as well. Not shopped online with them but picked up a few things, which was ok. Their customer service is worse than/on par with msy, and I recall cpl having issues with warranties as well.

Buy if it is cheap but if warranty is important I would shop elsewhere.

  • I have not bought anything recently, as I am on iPad and laptop thesedays, but CPL pretty much got my whole tax return every year when I was younger, never disappointed, but as with every company, there is always a small percentage where something will go wrong.

  • More expensive than MSY, pretty bad wait times when you're actually in-store, like, it's actually pretty bad.

But apart from that, they're alright.

    • The wait times are pathetic. I have no idea why it can be upto 30-45 minutes to get one item…

My boss sent me to get a new keyboard at nothing hill. I work 4km from there, 1 hr round trip.

But I still support them :-/

  • Everyone I know hates Notting Hill. I've had two terrible experiences and I will never go back.

  • I'm looking to get everything posted to me so wait times should not be a problem. But from what i'm reading I think im better off paying a little more and going to pccasegear or something similar. Opinions?

    • +2

      They're good.
I use PC Case Gear when I can't get what I want from MSY and Scorptec. For me PC Case Gear is harder to get to because of their location and business hours.

If you're looking for the cheapest option, I'd recommend MSY (Scorptec is often a very close second).
If you're looking for customer service or delivery, I'd recommend Scorptec.
If you're looking for something the other two don't stock, chances are that PC Case Gear stock it.

  • Half the stuff I ordered in from pccasegear died within a few months, the other half I should have waited and gone to MSY. If you want cheap parts I'd go MSY first and Capitol Square second.

    • The quality of the equipment you purchased from PCCG is no representation of the store itself. Its not like MSY (or someone else) sell a better quality version of the same thing you purchased.

More importantly - Was it easy to manage the returns?
Did PCCG help you with replacing/fixing whatever died?

Did PCCG recommend (or try to sell you) all of the equipment that died?

      • It is. They sell crap. I'm not shipping back 10kg speakers that blew out and when I called about a GPU I got the run around. Of the thousands I spent at MSY everything is all good. Indication, yes.

  • Second worst company in Australia (Telstra obviously takes the cake)

Aside from misleading prices that are not inclusive of tax and hugely overpriced shipping costs once you get through this process you are subject to 1.5-2.7% card processing fee. A computer mouse at $42.00 becomes $71.95.

My real problem came after I had made my order. I was told shipping would have my product delivered in 8-10 days. After several phone calls my package arrived just over a month later. This would have made me angry but not as angry as when I discovered that my order was incomplete. I emailed them and made several more calls and they told me my issue would be resolved,.It then took 6 more emails and multiple phone calls to bring me to now, 2 months later and I do not have my missing part and have been told bluntly that although they promise to ship it out I am not entitled to any refund of my initial overpriced shipping cost and that they will not provide me with any compensation or credit note.

I am contacting consumer protection and I urge any potential buyers to stay as far away from this company as possible. Literally only defeated in atrocious, unavailable, repetitive line holding, unhelpful customer service and misleading advertising by Telstra.

    • Oh they do not add GST to their items? That's….strange……

      • Yes they do……..at least the one I'm looking at does….

  • Garbage service. If you need computer parts, try some of the other places like pccase gear. I ordered some basic stuff a week ago, and they were supposed to deliver it in a day or two. Never happened. I am constantly calling them to find out the status, and am given the run around.

    • …is that why they no longer posts deals on here….? Their last post was somewhere last year…
