Quality, imported beer doesn't get much cheaper than this. Great price for a keg!

Very good beer. Have had it in bottles here in Aus and in mugs during Oktoberfest. One of the oldest breweries in Germany and one of the official beers served during Oktoberfest. :)

If only I didn't have my Tap King kegs and had a large enough fridge to store this.

Looks like it will fit right in… picking this up on my way back home from work. My weekend beer is sorted. :)

I've paid more for a pint at a bar, then the per litre price…

  • +1

This is the equivalent of ~13 375mL bottles, or ~$54 / carton. You can buy a carton for $38.

This is a gimmick purchase, not a bargain.

    • +2

I think the problem is that the bottled Lowenbrau is bottled locally.

The keg is imported. Some people will say paying the imported price is worth it.

    • +4

Actually tantryl, they're 330ml bottles (not 375ml), brewed under licence in Australia, and taste nothing like the genuine article. The keg is imported. Taste them side by side, and I'm sure you'll agree there's a massive difference in taste, and definitely worth the few extra dollars.

      • +3

Fair enough on the 330mL. 15 bottles, or $48 for the equivalent of a carton.

The images on the Dan Murphy site have the cartoons as imported too.

How do you know one is local and the other isn't? Happy to retract the neg if I can see how that works.

oh there's always someone with the "you can get a carton for $xx" comment.

this is quality beer, not piss-poor grog.

By Australian standards it's quality beer. I'd rate it inoffensive at best.

      • See post above. It's the same beer, same importer, different packaging, better price.

Your refined palate can't tell the difference between this imported classy beer and piss-poor grog. Maybe you should just stick to whatever's cheapest.

    It is normal price

hell yes! deal of the month!

edit: this is fantastic.. price per litre is not an issue.. these taste amazing!

    • Someone that enjoys their beer as much as I do. Great to see :)

    • only issue i see is that kegs are a hassle to chill and serve.

      • +1

I still have the Heineken keg bra they were giving away a few years ago. Throw it in the freezer overnight, wrap it around the keg for an hour and you have beautifully chilled beer!

        • +4

          imagine the nipples!

  • So is this is the normal price or is it on sale?

    • -2

Regular price. Also represents poor value in comparison with carton price.

      • +1

In that case, coke cans are never a bargain (at whatever price) because the price per litre of the plastic bottles is always far better.

        • -1

I understand the need to try a new angle, what with the whole difference in quality thing being exposed for what it was, but everyone knows there's a price of convenience factored in with cans. And the comparative price difference isn't nearly as marked as it is in this case.
