The funniest thing people say, like sony were not going to do the exact same thing before they saw the backlash. Everyone knew they were. This is why a competitive market is good for us, we want both to succeed.

XB1 is a better buy in Aus than PS4 because 549 is more than 399 USD by a large margin even factor in the NEVERever GST.
No one party winning the console war is good for the industry and customers, for example if Sony won it they will not give a $h!t on the current batch of customer getting RLOD or BLOD production defects.
Competition benefits customers, make it neck and neck is best of both worlds!!
XB1 is the balanced console, it has free work out fitness service, kinect games for kids and social gamers and hardcore games. Unlike PS4 only focus on hardcore games.

Yes, Microsoft is the underdog in current gen btw the top two (but true underdog is poor Nintendo).
Microsoft is the under dog in the mobile / tablet market tooSony is the leader in gaming systems but it is the big underdog in tv and professional photography (dslr type).

I understand that, but it's funny hearing Microsoft being called the underdog. Xbox 360 was definitely more popular than the PS3. It was half the price of the PS3 and it had a head start. I'd say the two consoles are on level ground now. I'm going to buy both either way.

Might want to check lifetime sales, PS3 overtook 360 about a year ago.
From what i've heard, pre-orders in Australia are 70/30 in favour to Sony. MS really buggered up with the initial launch and it looks like they haven't recovered.

Not yet, seems like it will come out this week. EB generally do not price match a pre order (and they generally wont give it to u for that price at midnight, unless big w is also open).

I think the best thing about the xbox is the dedicated servers for all games. Im so sick of online lag and thank god its a thing of the past…. Well for xbox games at least.

Say I went to Big W early when it opens, and purchase a game that I already pre ordered from EB Games, if I cancel this pre order, do I get the money back in cash?
Or do they give it back in store credit?

When I preordered both the XBox and the Forza + Controller pack EB has I was told I could cancel the orders and receive either a cash refund or store credit.
If you're unsure, you could always just get EB Games to price match Big W instead however. If you want to reward Big W for the initiative and want to be sure, you can also just call EB and check.

I ordered Forza 5, Assassin's Creed 4 and a wireless controller yesterday online. The email said it would be delivered between 28/11 and 2/12, which I'm not too fussed about. I checked the order status online today and it says each item is 'backordered', even though it says 'in stock online' on their website… Also I noticed that you can no longer order the wireless controller online, which is a bit odd, not sure why it has been taken down.
Is everyone else's online orders saying backordered? Hopefully there won't be too much of a delay.

I still haven't received my order yet. I have contacted Big W a couple of times via their online chat, and received a call from them the other day. They advised that the controller won't be in stock until late 2014!? That doesn't make much sense. I ended up cancelling the controller from my order and got a refund for that amount (surprisingly I have already received the money back in my account).
I checked the status of my remaining two items today and it still says backordered, so I gave them a call to find out what's going on and they said that the order is currently being picked, so it should be shipped very shortly. They said that there is an issue with their system incorrectly showing the status as 'backordered'. Very frustrating… I have ordered from Big W Online on a number of other occasions, but I don't think I'll be ordering from them any time soon.
I've only contacted them once via their online chat and she said that its been shipped and the ETA was still 02/12/2013 (as originally quoted when order was placed during checkout)
However now its 05/12/2013 and still nothing, still on backorder
and this was for x1 controller, Forza 5 and Battlefield 4.Probably also have to cancel the remote if its late 2014.

Yeah I think the controller will be the problem with your order. Probably best to give them a call to find out what's going on.
I called them few hours ago and the lady said all items are on hold until the controller comes in (controller ETA end of the year 31/12/2013)… but the lady online 5 days ago said everything was shipped…
Then i asked if i could cancel the controller only, she said 'no', will have to cancel entire order, so i cancelled everything, so don't know whats going on.

Went to EB next door - matched Big W on controller ($58) and forza 5 - day one edition ($68)

Every MS shill ever. I'm not afraid to say I won't buy an Xbox One because MS is clearly not after the core gamer. I don't give a hoot about NFL or NUads, and I certainly don't support a company that wanted to ram an all digital, restrictive DRM future up our collective backsides.
I will continue to play dota on my PC, get FFXV on my PS4, and get X on the Wii U when it releases, but nothing could convince me that MS is not out to screw me over after all that has happened in 2013.
