Bought this on monday for $409 from Amazon delivered but just see it went down by $30 and chatted online with them and got them to refund me $30. How good is that for service. This the cheapest they have ever been.

  • Thanks - was waiting on a good price for this - got it shipped to WA for $344 USD - about $365 AUD

  • Would this be recommended if I don't have pets?

I have a 10 months old who is crawling everywhere!

  • For starters this is the best price you will see and I'm not sure if/how it can get better over Black Friday sales, but we can only speculate.

Thanks for your forum post OP, I have just had $30 refunded as I bought it for $299US about 12 days ago.

What's not to love about OzBargain!

    • $299 USD?

      • Yeah $299USD and now its $269USD. So Amazon refunded $30USD.

  • was going to get roomba 770. how does this compare to roomba series?

  • Amazon reviews seem to indicate quality issues with many units replaced with an upgraded model (normally you would expect s like for like replacement). Wondering if they are getting rid of this model… Anyway, anyone know if neato provide support and replacements to Australians, and whether you need voltage adapters to use this in Australia? I've got wooden floors and a couple of rugs, if the support and warranty is good this might be a goer…

No voltage transformer required just an adaptor US-AUS or change the cable. It's 110-240v.

AFAIK there's no international warranty on this so you'd have to ship it back to the US. Considering the price to buy this in Australia you would still be ahead after having it sent back once.

Here's a thread on Whirlpool about it: http://forums.whirlpool.net.au/forum-replies.cfm?t=2113224&p…

      • Thanks for that. Decidrd to give it a go. Won't tell MrsDixit until it lands I'm thinking…

I've had a XV-11 for about 2 years now and here's my summary.

Absolute nightmare to begin with - first 2 came DOA (had issues with the wheels not turning). Luckily I had bought from BuyHappier and they reimbursed shipping both ways (which was about $160 from here to the US). Since getting the 3rd unit, it's been an absolute delight - as good as I hoped for before buying.

In that time the only problems we've had we're need a new battery after around 16 months (around $70 for the replacement off ebay), and buying some more filters.

We have 2 cats and it does a brilliant job keeping our floors clean. You need to work out problem areas initially, but once you get a feel for what it has problems with, it pretty much works flawlessly. The only ares it doesn't quite clean as well as you'd like is right up against edges. We've bought a dyson stick vacuum for pretty much this reason.

The power cord which goes into the dock is the type used on a laptop, so you can easily change this bit with an australian one. No need for a converter or anything like that.

Last thing is that the Neato's use a laser to detect the room layout and methodically cover the areas. The Roomba I believe just bounces around rather than knowing where its been before.

    • Where on the buyhappier web site did it say that return shipping is free?

      • BuyHappier website says:

The majority of our items come with a Manufacturer’s Warranty. If your item should happen to malfunction, please contact the Manufacturer directly for repair or replacement. If you choose not go through the Manufacturer and a Manufacturer’s Warranty is still in effect, there will be a 20% fee.

  • Thanks. Got one. Good luck to me, hope I don't have to return it!

  • So tempted, but I really don't need it. I just want it because it's a cool gadget. Dammit… why am I still looking at it. Yesterday I wasted money on an iPad and GoPro that I don't need, I really shouldn't waste more.

You'll be the death of me OzBargain.

iPad to watch the GoPro footage captured with it attached to your Neato.

  • Got one, thanks. Will compare this with my Roomba 780.

  • Thanks OP. Was looking to get the iRobot from Amazon at the right price, but hey at this price I'll give Neato a try. Spent $367 with a $10 off discount email that I received today from Amazon.

  • I have had one of these for months and highly recommend it, does it's job very well and just needs emptying after two full house cleans.
The pet filter is good for asthma sufferers as well.
No regrets buying this, it actually vacuums as opposed to sweep the top like the Roomba.

  • I bought the XV-11 about 2 and a half years ago and all we had to do was change the batteries this year. It has been perfectly reliable otherwise and it actually cleans very well on carpet and bathroom tiles. I just got this one for downstairs. My wife absolutely loves it.

  • Thanks OP for pointing this out. I bought this for $329 just a couple of weeks ago and watched it drop to $299, and now $269. Had a chat with the Amazon rep and they refunded the difference of $60.03!

Connected in seconds, refunded with no questions asked. All done in less than 15 minutes. Amazon is amazing. I missed out on a deal in the past because I hesitated for a few minutes and the price went up. They issued me with a credit coupon to purchase the item at the previous price.

Just ask, you never know what good things the Amazon customer reps can do for you!

  • Just ordered one. Ozbargain, ozbargain - I blame you for making buy things I don't REALLY need…
Then checked out videos - sounds LOUD…., and frequent complaints of early breakdown.
Bought with 28 degrees card and hoping that the purchase insurance will cover probs - but checked fine print and it doesn't cover electrical or mechanical breakdown :(
    Hopefully will be OK.

  • Just grabbed one for $269 :) Thanks OP!

  • Noo… seem that I need a power adapter, the laptop plug doesn't work

  • I used my laptop cable and it worked fine, I was going to use a travel adapter but it's a 3 plug US connection not a 2 plug and it won't fit.

Does anyone know where I can buy an extra laptop cable now? The link bxpressiv posted shows that it's a C5/C6 coupler, I found some on Ebay for $5 with postage: http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/NEW-1x-Notebook-Power-Cord-Cable-…

However I would like to get one this week in store somewhere, anyone have any ideas where would stock them and exactly what I would ask for?

    • Okay found one at JayCar :D Only a couple bucks more than Ebay:

      Will head there tomorrow.

Bunnings and Dick Smith should have them but the Jaycar price is reasonable, so I'd go with them if they're local.

      • Yeah going there, they are the cheapest and pretty close. Officeworks have them as well but are $11.
        Thanks!
