Why no vaping gears are allowed here yet useless stuffs like this are allowed

    • A live issue, http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/121548.

Maybe they're just erring on the side of caution.

I see. Cheers for that shame really . I have tried any methods out there, well maybe not all but i have been off cigs the longest now with vaping

    • My mum's e-cigs ooze quality and sophistication thanks to their physical attributes, backed up by (US-based) marketing. It's a powerful psychological draw that appears to have kept her off cigs and progressively reduced her nicotine intake, after a 17-year pack-a-day habit and lack of success with other cessation aids.

And that's a big problem, from the point of view of anti-smoking advocates who have gateway theory concerns, as well as fears about relegitimising "smoking" and the reemergence of Big Tobacco. Patches, inhalers, etc. are clinical and unappealing - not attractive to non-smokers. Of course, that "necessary" lack of appeal probably undermines their effectiveness to an extent.

This bargain is for smoking Chemist Warehouse employees… free cigs!! ;)

Good deal if you're in the market for patches for sure.

Patches are useless for a lot of people, e-cigs are usually better.

    • E-cigs don't encourage smoking cessation even though nicotine isn't arguably bad for you. The controversy relating to them is that they are not regulated and there's no dose standardisation. Some even argue they worsen addiction.

Patches are first line because even if you are still smoking while using patches, you inhale shallower and inhaling less chemicals into your system. And no one can get addicted to patches, no matter how many you stick on.

      • You don't have to have e-cigs with nicotine. People I know have stopped have used ones without it. It just keeps your mouth busy while your body withdraws from it.

So, gotta buy some smokes first. Do they accept rollies?

If you have a concession card, see your doctor and get him/her to write you a script (authority script) and you can get it dispensed at any pharmacy for $5.90…. Or if you have reached safety net then you get it for free. :)

    • Thats correct authority script is needed ..but if you decide to use Nicabate patches you get 2 repeats ..so 3 months worth as there are 28 patches in a box

  • I wonder how CWH are going to dispose of the collected cigarettes? Do they need a license or permit of any kind to do this?

or you can just stop and get over it.

  • Better off using swedish snus or maybe vaping as a quit aid than buying this over priced junk

For what it's worth I have been using a combination of patches and nicobates over the last few months (basically to no avail seeing as I haven't managed to quit completely) but I have found the patches to be more effective than the lozenges. The 24-hr patches provide a constant and steady feeling of calmness (for want of better word) while the lozenges seem to engender an up-and-down management of the craving similarly satisfied by cigarette. So long as I refuse to have that earliest cigarette of the day at brekky or whenever, on the patches I can last till 5-6 in the afternoon before the psychological addiction to the physical act of smoking a cigarette becomes too tempting. It is completely ridiculous- my body is flooded with nicotine from the patch already- and certainly nowhere near as satisfying as a smoke after going most of the day without nicotine, but that's where I'm at unfortunately. Getting to the stage where I can avoid the physical rituals of smoking for 12 hours+ (via the patches) is extremely valuable, however.

    • the psychological addiction to the physical act of smoking a cigarette

      the ritual.

replacing that act with some other physical act is better for the ceasation of smoking.

  • I tried the patches before but I couldn't keep them lit, they're useless!!

  • are these short life?

  • Wouldn't it make more sense for them to require a smoked cigarette before giving out free (anti-smoking) stuff?

  • I decided to take advantage of thee Chemist Warehouse offer for the Nicorette patches ,and with needing to spend $20.00 to get the offer I bought a 7 day pack of patches. Both lots of patches are marked as step one..but here comes the interesting bit …the patches in the step one of 28 patches are 15mg …and the ones in the 7 day pack are also step one but they are 25mg patches ,which needless to say are going to give you a higher dose …So I rang the Chemist Warehouse and was told that was the offer organised by buyer….So I then rang Nicorette and basically the 15 mg is a runout of stock step one they will then be step two …so for us people who are trying to quit the lower strength patch is not going to help with cravings as well as the new Step one which is 25mg
I realise many people will be saying Just stop smoking …but that is not as easy as you think
Addiction is not like a light switch you can just turn on and of
