So they released a "new" app instead of updating their existing app. Thus people have to repurchase the apps.

EDIT: BTW, old versions of their app wasn't exactly cheap either

    http://appshopper.com/search/?search=flighttrack

$5.49 for the no ad version
    $10.49 for the pro version

They even removed the old version of the Android app from the play store. So can't reinstall the old paid versions.

  • Forget this crap app. Get Flight+

I have the older FlightTrack v4.xx app which works well for me (I also have Flight+ which is also good).

DO NOT BUY this FlightTrack 5. I just bought it and it is a waste of money. For those of you familiar with v4, you can very easily add in new flights, search by airline, search by destination etc. This new version pretty much kills this and forces you to search for flights on a given date between two nominated cities. You have no control on airline etc.

Also, once you put in your flights, it is not nicely stacked with all your necessary flight details like flight number and time as it was in v4, it is just city to city and date.

There are many other things about this new version that irks me and as a long time use of this app, I am very sad to say that they have made a mistake with this 'update' and I want my money back.

    Regards
    Daniel

I've been using Flight Track Pro for just over a year now and find it extremely useful. I bought the upgrade and now find it extremely unusable (i'd say unuseful but apparently that's not a word).

The problem for me is the lack of TripIt integration (YMMV) and a complaint to the developer resulted in the following email:

"Thank you for using our new FlightTrack 5! Unfortunately, we had to launch the app without TripIt sync. :( I'm sorry if you're disappointed. You're not alone; many people have been expressing disappointment and surprise at the new app's lack of TripIt integration. To be honest, we share in this frustration. The unfortunate reality is that we did build and intend to ship a TripIt feature in FlightTrack 5 but had to remove it, because we were unable to come to an agreement with TripIt over FlightTrack's new single price tier model. We’re continuing to work with TripIt on this, but the reality is that we do not have their permission to use TripIt sync at this time.

In the meantime, if TripIt sync is a feature that you heavily rely on, you are encouraged to continue using FlightTrack Pro with TripIt sync while we work out the details. We'll continue to support FlightTrack Pro until we reach basic feature parity in FlightTrack 5. In fact, this very situation was one of the main reasons why we launched FlightTrack 5 as a separate app: we wanted to make sure our users could still sync with TripIt if needed. Please reach out if you have any other questions or feedback for us! We're here and always happy to help!"

    meh

    • I was so unhappy with this version that I just arranged for (and got) a refund.
