Kindle Fire HD 8.9" 16GB WiFi is on sale for $242.
Good price for a full HD 1920x1200 8.9" tablet for viewing media, email, reading or browsing.
New Kindle Fire HDX 8.9" to be released in Dec is priced at $479 - almost twice the price of current model.

      Some people like the bigger screen. but isn't the Nexus $299?

      I got the Kindle when it was $229, a bargain for full-HD then.
      Good value if you don't mind a bit of hacking to install Play Store etc.
      It has an excellent screen, and good stereo speakers.

      But yes, I'd swap it for the nexus-7 2013 with Kitkat.
