Yeah, totally agree. When they say Prepare to die, they totally mean it. Super challenging and lots of fun. You have to have the expectation that you will die a lot in this game.

Amazing game, easily in my all-time top 5. After the superb polish and ergonomic controller functions of FC3 (which should be the default controller layout for any new FPS as far as I'm concerned) going back to Skyrim feels clunky and awkward.

Is anyone else experiencing major frame rate lag with Dark Souls? I purchased it yesterday and according to fraps every time i play its stuck at around 10fps.. My computer meets the specs.. AMD 3.5ghz quad, radeon 6870.. Whats going on?
at least it works for you haha, running on windows 8 its just instant crashing :(
Sometimes modification to the specifications are needed. You need to download the dark souls patch DSfix and change the internal rendering resolution and the frame rate to your computers optimal screen settings.
I've read up quite a bit on fps issues with dark souls on PC. Basically this is one of the worst PC ports to ever see the light of day so don't worry about your computer. Are you using the DSfix? If not, seriously get it(http://darksouls.nexusmods.com/mods/19//?) it's fantastic! Also antialiasing is code for LAG so disable it in the settings menu.
For anyone about to buy this game remember to purchase and invest in a PC controller, or use drivers such as motion in joy to enable PS3 or Xbox controllers for the PC. When using the mouse the cursor sometimes isn't fixed in the center for most users, difficult and annoying to play through b/c of this.
Awesome game overall regardless and worth a buy for this bargain.
very good tip, this game is so much about timing and circling that I wouldn't play it without a controller.

If you're considering purchasing this, you should also consider downloading this mod which increases the frame rate of the game to 60, among a slew of other things you can find the mod here.
Be sure to alter the option files that are inside the download, as those allow you to optimise your gameplay.

For those who have insta-crash when running from steam (win 8?), I removed the "windows games for live" that comes with it and is installed when you first run it, restarted pc and then downloaded the latest windows games for live from Microsoft … No more crash when starting!

Also I didn't have sound during menu/game - I adjusted sound properties to have it 16bit 48khz (DVD quality) and that fixed that…
I bought this, using the same US address I have for other Amazon game purchases, but it's stuck in limbo. Order page says "Sorry, processing of this order is taking longer than expected". Has been for a few hours now. Anyone else bought this successfully with this specific promo?
