  • Guys. If I ordered today, how long would it take for it to arrive to my house?

I'm leaving the Land of Oz, mid december.

    • last time it took me 12 days to arrived to Sydney cbd

      • Cheers, thnks mate.

    • Ordered on 19/11 and received today 3/12 = 10 working days (or 14 days including weekends)

    • I paid for express (wanted to make sure if arrived for Christmas). Ordered Friday 29/11 and it arrived today (3/12).

  • How do these things rate against the Samsung evos?

    • +1

Samsung Evo are far better in terms of the speed and everything, probably except the lifespan(TLC VS MLC).

      • Thank you :)

        • Intel have the best reliability. Probably a good thing if you're importing.

Speed difference is not big btw. Between SSDs, it's mostly only benchmarking where you'll notice it. For every day operation, it's more or less imperceptible.

      • Probably lifespan too, unless the Evo's also use a sandforce.

Statistically, Samsung is more reliable than Intel though. This is entirely due to a fact that Samsung can design&manufacture own controller chip and NAND flash together. I find their software(a backup software which allows you to transfer data from old hard drive to new SSD) easy to use and practical.

Only con that I can think of Samsung Evo is the lifespan(TLC), but no one uses a hard drive over 100 years.

  • Can you tell me how it accepted your order? All my electric goods orders from amazon.com are rejected because they don't ship to Australia. Thanks.

    • Didn't have to do anything unusual here

    • Try shipping to an actual address, not a PO Box

  • $165 for 256GB here for those who dont need high end drives:

    (free shipping)

I got it for $169 during their click frenzy sales :| My $4 D:
oh well, I'm still happy, new comp doesn't really have any boot time… the legend about boot speed through an SSD really does live up to its claims.

How much is shipping from Amazon USA to AU ?

Umart (Australian store that ships locally) sells Intel 240GB SSD 530 Series OEM SATA III $229.00

I have used an Kingston SSDNOW60 gig (intel based) and
currently using Intel 520S 120 gig . Intel SSD's run fantastic , no issues, great speed, quiet.

Shipping from USA is slow for the past 3 weeks. My expedited shipments have all been delayed.

    Buyers beware.

    • Same here. But it's Xmas so it's always the same this time of year.

    • They must be sending it out on drones

    Good deal.

To anyone who has never used an SSD before… it is a bigger upgrade than any CPU or Video Card… go for it!

Actually, maybe easier to compare dialup to broadband. You'll never go back :)

can this be used for either ps3 or ps4?

    • i'm pretty sure you are able to use ssds with ps3, but not sure about ps4.

      • ps3/ps4 only accepts 9.5mm, not sure if this is 7mm…

        • Anything that accepts 9.5mm will also accept anything thinner than it. It's if you try to put something thicker in that it won't be accepted.

And yes you can put SSD in PS4. Look up 'PS4 SSD' on youtube.

  • I specify an actual address, not a PO box.

  • Been holding out for a sale on the Samsung 840 Pro, as apposed to getting this fella.

    Guys think it's worth it?

Not in desperate need of a new SSD. Got a 120GB 520, but the write speed is shit (130MBps) and I'd like more space.

    • Can someone tell me the write and read speed of the 530?

  • Review here:

    http://anandtech.com/show/7438/intel-ssd-530-240gb-review

Basically says it's very good for an OS drive, so so for storing movies and MP3s.

I ordered on 23/11 and they arrived today. If anyone in Canberra wants to buy one for $170 please message me.

    • +1

You're not meant to store movies and mp3s on it..

What's the point of wasting your expensive storage on media that isn't improved by faster speeds?

They should stay on a HDD where the storage is cheap, plentiful, and more than fast enough for the purpose.

This review sounds pretty amateur if they're judging its use as a storage drive. The OS is what it should be used for. I have a 520, and the boot time is lightning fast.

    • Hi B3, I am interested. Is that new?

      • Sorry missed this. Yeah it was new, I just ordered an extra one cause you can always get rid of a bargain if you don't want it and by ordering more you have that option.

        Have sold it now sorry.

  • Good price. Paid $225 AUD for it a week ago from MSY.
