Sub notebook (12" or less), with DVD player, light weight (under 1.8 kg) and under $1000? :)

Hello everyone,

I have a friend who is looking for netbooks mainly for browsing the web, checking emails etc.

She also watches DVDs some days.

Any suggestions?

So far I have:

Buy a netbook and an external USB drive. Copy DVDs to harddrive. I think this breaches rights on the DVD though.
Buy a netbook + buy a USB powered DVD drive. Cumbersome but cheap and light weight
Pioneer notebooks
a. 12" at 1.8 kg, fairly powerful but shorter battery life
b. 10" about the same size and weight as the 12", but possibly better battery life

Any other suggestions? :)

If you don't mind 300gram heavier, then this Medion Akoya from Aldi would be a very nice buy (only if they haven't been sold out in your local Aldi).
