  • where do you find this deal? I can never find their deals on their site.

What date are you talking about when you say "Released 2am EST." ?

  • What are the dates for this? I can't seem to find any cheap flights

  • SMS from Gold Coast airport, you can sign up on their site.
Sorry as post says- no other details available yet.
    Logon to Airasia.com @ 2am (13/05/09) for the deal.

    • Thanks for letting us know, I hope they have a good date range. Been looking to book a flight with them for a while now. I have a feeling it'll be for all Australian airports too - can't see them doing OOL exclusively..

  • Do they usually have return flights as well? GC to KL for $280 return for 2 people would be nice. :)

Can anyone who has traveled to KL let me know what the cost of meals, accommodation, taxis, etc is like? Would like to surprise my wife with a cheap trip but are there any extra hidden costs traveling to KL?

    • I lived in KL for 17 years…

Food = CHEAP (average meals around RM10, expensive meals are around RM30 - exchange rate currently is 1AUD=2.7MYR)

Taxis = readily available, cheap and popular source of transport since the public transport system isn't very good except for in the city itself

Accommodation = I have no idea as I don't usually source these, but I'm guessing you can get a good room for not much

  • Any idea of trip dates?

I dont think theyll also be selling the return airfares but still $71 for one way is damn cheap, i know what ill be doing this morning.

I havent been to KL, but i am sure its like most other asian countries good food, cheap enough accomodation just look on http://www.wotif.com/ and a few other sites to get an awesome deal.

Things to do? i wouldnt have a clue but ill probably jump onto one of the cheap flights and go to vietnam/taiwan/hong kong/where ever for $30.

Itd be a great suprise tho

    • Yes return flights can be booked and cheaper as Kuala Lumpur airport's tax is lower.

  • Not just Gold Coast, but all destinations of AirAsia and AirAsia X. Please refer to this http://www.asiatraveltips.com/news09/125-AirAsia.shtml. I also read this in MX today and mentioned that it will cover all across the network.

The fare is from $71 from Gold Coast, or $82 from Melbourne or Perth to Kuala Lumpur (one way). Taxes are cheaper from KL.

You will be looking at a return flight of about $150 return.

Travelling period is 5 January to 30 April 2010

The sale starts from 2 AM tonight (13 May) to 15 May unless sold out. Better watch out and hurry.

From Kuala Lumpur, connect with free seats (plus tax) to all destinations of AirAsia.

p/s: someone please change the title/content of this post as it is not only from GC.

    • Kind of sucks about that travel period being next year but gives enough time to organize time off

      • Hopefully they survive till then. The travel industry is going through some real pain at the moment.

  • eh i dont see any free fares…?

  • So I wake up at 2am and the only fares are for domestic flights from KL?

  • +1

There is, try looking at March.. its $82+38 =return flight

    • I knew I resisted the negative vote precisely for this reason, thanks zack2008! (and Bayzone!)

  • oh i found the free fares! certain dates only

  • +2

use http://airasiaplus.com/ to find 15 days of fares in advance (so you don't need to keep pressing Next)

    • That site is not working for me - anyone else having problems with it? Struggling to find the really cheap flights…

  • woo hoo… Hope everyone got a seat! see you on the flight.

    • yea i got a flight on the 23rd of Jan, hvent booked a return flight because they dont seem to be on special so ill work out wht im doing with other flights from KL and make a plan before i book anything back

  • Good bargain, unfortunate about the dates though. Will be overseas in 2010.

  • Fantastic. Booked trip for two between Perth and KL return for $306 total.

  • great bargain and I am very tempted to book but am already going malaysia near the end of this year (not a low cost carrier).
Wish sydney would get some of the action though

  • Ohh another AIrasia trip, thats 4 bookings for the next 9 months :(

FYI, you can goto Thailand, Hong Kong, Vietnam and other AirasiaX destinations for around $30-$50.

  • how's the seat in the flight? i will travel with my litle baby. how comfortable do u think is it for me to have a baby sit on my lap all the way to KL? this's my 1st trip with a baby, i don't know what to expect

    • usually you can ask for a cot sort of thing, you can also request a certain seat when booking, i did this

    • Those are seats with bassinet. You can pre-book such seats in advance for $10 I think.

Otherwise, just get a baby sling. They're quite comfy for your little bub and yourself.

These flights are searchable via Adioso, although we're a little behind so keep checking as new fares are found…

    NEW FEATURE:

We can now identify multi-leg routes, providing new destination options and cheaper ways of getting to existing destinations.

    Eg:

Melbourne to Bangkok: http://adioso.com/search/melbourne-to-bangkok.html - returns Melbourne to Kuala Lumpur then Kuala Lumpur to Bangkok from approx $136

You can see any airfare drops as Adioso detects them by watching or RSS-subscribing to the price feed:

    • great deals on those 2.

do you have enough pull in the industry to get air asia to start running out of sydney ;)?

      • Hah, not likely :) But Tiger's running to/from Sydney, so you never know. In the meantime you can use Tiger to get to somewhere AirAsia does fly from. 3-leg journey? Why not ;)

      • AirAsia will commence Sydney flights this November.

        • do you have any source?

    • A great site Tom - really brilliant. Please keep it just as simple as it now is. Only issue is the delay with some updates (i.e. flight apparently available at a price, but actually no longer available at that price as seats have already sold). I'll be telling friends about the site.

  • Just a few notes:

AirAsia is said to add another Australian destination end of this year, rumoured to be Sydney. Can't find a source but it is still nothing official.

svsvk, AirAsia X is a long haul low cost airline, which means the seats may be a bit squeezed in. So it is STRONGLY encouraged for you to secure one of the basinets available. To do that you should call their Australian number: 1300 760 330 to secure one of the bassinets. Don't even think of strapping yourself with the baby for 7 hours as you may not be able to breath :P

I also experience error in the booking process, if that happen, just press "BACK" button and then press Submit again. It normally will work. The website has seriously been congested with people trying to get through it at the same time.

If you are connecting, you are FOREWARNED to leave extra layover time as the flights can be delayed up to 2-3 hours. They won't compensate you if you missed your flights.

Ps: please someone change the heading and content of the sale above.

  • I have flown with Air Asia a few times and they are awesome. I managed to pay $70 last year at KL to upgrade to a XL Seat (Business class) on the way home however they did make an error.

They are a bit like Virgin Blue but for Asia. I booked 6 flights:-

    Gold Coast to KL +

    KL to Phuket

    Phuket to Bangkok

    Bankok to Hanoi

    hochiminh city to KL

    KL to Gold Coast

all 6 free flights (just taxes + extra services) with extra luggage and meals, KL Transfers, as well as choice assigned seats for $341.00 AUD

This is the Best Deal Air Asia have put out so far to the best of my knowledge. Plus they have News Air Buses now from Australia. The planes they had last year were over 20 years old for International flights. Most of their planes are no more than 15 months old.

AirAsia will file for Bankrupcy by January 2010.

    AirAsia will go broke.

All of you people have just lost your money.

    • Let me guess, you missed out on this deal and you are just teasing us.

      • -4

        Yes, I AM jealous.

        But that's not my point.

My point is that you are paying money to an Asian business that will not be around in 6 months time.

Asian businesses collapse ALL THE TIME.

Everyone who has bought tickets to January 2010 has just lost their money.

        Don't say I didn't warn you!

        • Lol….

I got my flight and im glad i stayed up for it because i was about to go to bed 30mins before til i remembered.

I have flown airasia atleast 4 times in the past and i would say they are in a better position than most australian carriers because they have great airfares to quite a few places in asia that not many other places go to

I expect them to be around for quite awhile, atleast til the end of next year

But itd be great if you didnt spout this kind of non-sense to spoil peoples moods in regards to travelling.

        • I cant tell if you are joking or being serious? You do realize though that Airasia has been around for many many years? And last year it had more Air services then MAS?

Both Airasia and MAS would never go bankrupt, they have way too much financial and government backing.

        • "Asian businesses collapse ALL THE TIME."

Oh really? Australian businesses also collapse all the time? Just because a business is Asian doesn't mean it will collapse. Air Asia are fairly reputable. Let me put it this way, I'd have more faith in Air Asia than your comments.

    • What evidence do you have of this?

  • hi guys

Air asia on their site kept saying "1,000,000 FREE SEAT" you pay the fee….. (http://www.airasia.com/site/au/en/page.jsp?reference=fs)
but i couldnt find that seat?

it said jan 2010 still available, but i could find it, the cheapest flight from melb-KL is $200 AUD?

whats going on here? anyone could help me is greatly appreciated it.

    • -1

Definitely all gone by yesterday afternoon :( Airasia is pretty lax in updating the sales page.

      • Wrong again Zhenjie - please learn how to use a website search engine before giving incorrect advice.

        • Perhaps, maybe a few dates for the Mel-KL route, but extremely slim pickings by afternoon. Some not worth it because depart and return dates were weeks apart. The airfare search engines are HOURS behind. You can prove me otherwise.

edit: oh wait, just realised you're that douche who got -20 votes for posting your stupid votes on the the other threads. Looks like someone is still bitter LOL.

  • thank for the notes, i saw the notes on wednesday morning and book it straight away. But since i am going to work, i miss out opportunity to go to hongkong for just RM100 from kl.AUS 40… well the kl to macau trip is good enough AUS50 (return)…

Thank for sharing and around 9 pm yesterday, i think 90% zero fare is gone…they always have sero fare every year at least, and i also got once last yr when they first lauched, and around january 2009 for booking on november 2009 till jan 2010…
