Can anyone suggest a good Kawasaki dealership in Sydney?

Just got my L bike licence. I'm looking to buy a Ninja 300, searched around, seem like good dealership are in QLD or VIC (who offer good price and great customer servie). Couldn't see anyone talking about Sydney dealership, where should I be looking?

How much would 2013 Ninja 300 cost in Sydney with ORC? and how much is the insurance? I'm over 25, full drive licence with no car accident record.

  • I can't answer your question but I would suggest not getting a new bike. Go for a not so powerful, used bike. Less expensive insurance and retains resell value. Not so much of a big deal if you drop it either.

    • This is a good time of year to buy a new bike. Not many sales around Christmas and some dealers really want to clear 2013 plated stock. My last two bikes have both been new Kawasaki after many many years of used bikes. I agree there are a few good used bikes out there, but they can be hard to find and are usually quite dear (depending on the model).

I'm in Qld, so don't know dealers real well, but make sure you know exactly what you are getting (model, build date, odometer, length of rego and accessories). I got bitten once, won't happen again.

FWIW, consider a higher cc LAMS bike. These have always had better resale. Honda have some good deals on the 500 cc range. Even CF Moto if are keen on something different. Hell, even Hyosung's reputation and quality has improved.

There is a smorgasbord of decent LAMS bikes these available these days and you can get a lot of bang for your buck. Do a few test rides and haggle hard to get the right bike for you.

      • thanks for you advise.

I don't want to spend too much for my first bike. and I feel >300cc is out of my skill level. I don't want to die young :P

and plus they can be 2~3k more expensive. I would spend that on a aftermarket exhaust and safety gear.

    • There are a number of advantages of buying a new bike, especially one in the lower price range. Yes, they will lose some value but will always be in demand by new riders, especially the Ninja. Safety is the first one that springs to mind. I don't ride a motorbike but the new Ninja has a system where if you shift down too early to a lower gear you won't wobble the back end. Add in ABS if you want and it's looking good. It's a dangerous hobby to get into, no doubt, but since you're 25 you might be a bit more mature than the younger ones. Don't get all black gear. You'll look cool but be hard to see at night time. I followed my son back at dusk after he picked up his bike. By the time we got near home, it was dark. He was in front of me at the lights with another bike next to him who had a flouro jacket and a light coloured helmet. He was lit up like a Christmas tree and I could hardly see my son.

      • lol, thanks! im thinking about getting all white gear. I thought of your concern, too and I won't get black bike and gear.

the system you talking about is it included in ninja 300?

        • its called a slipper clutch, it comes standard =)

    • I thought about getting used bike. But

      1. I don't want to change bike too quick, I planned to ride one bike for at least 2 years. That's why I avoid getting 125cc.

      2. there are cheaper bike but honestly they are ugly in my eyes. good looking bike are usually only a couple of hundreds cheaper than brand new.

      • Be silly to get 125cc anyway, even the Honda Forza 300 (279cc) scooter is like 2 grand on gumtree

        • scooter…mmm…i still want to look cool, after all I am 25 only, still immature ^^

  • When it comes to riding, do what feels right. Don't push yourself beyond what's comfortable. Remember to be cautious but also have fun. I have been riding over 20 years continuously on the road. Pretend everyone in a car or bigger is out to get you, but remember to enjoy the good times and do want is right for you and your skill level.

BTW, Daabido is talking about a slipper clutch. This stops too much engine compression if you change down gear too soon which can lock the rear wheel.

    Good luck and enjoy!

    • Do you live in Sydney? Do you have any good motorcycle shop to recommend?

  • Btw I took receive of a 2013 ninja se (toxic green) brand new for 6600 ride away :)

    Non abs

    • is this the price in Sydney?
