Available locally for ~$350 these are meant to be amazing value studio monitors. Getting them to replace my aging Logitech 5.1 PC speakers.

Shipping makes this deal not as good as for the yanks but still very good price for a decent pair of speakers.

Note those have flat frequency response (close to neutral) and according to what I have been reading will need a subwoofer for people who crave lots of bass.

  • Showing as $145.79 with free shipping.

    • Not for me.

    • You have to then click the button that says 'estimate shipping and tax' in the cart page.

      Brings it up to $248.02.

  • Is there a way to ship these here without hefty shipping fees?

    Also what about warranty ?

    • Could try using a few different US forwarding addresses and comparing? Or have a mate in the US who's willing to cart it back for you.

  • How heavy is this sucker? Must be pretty hefty for $100 shipping.. Otherwise a forwarder would be half this price for shipping

edit: just checked on Amazon, 23.62lb 10kg! solid.

    • I just shipped something ~10kg via forwarder it was $89.

  • Most likely to be 110V. Need transformer.

    • The pictures show an AC selector switch on the back. The picture shows 115V, but I assume the other option will be 220-240V. They use a standard IEC plug, so getting Australian cables would be easy.

    • power factory programmed for either 115V ~50/60 Hz or 230V ~50/60 Hz

I know that Amazon in the past refunded buyers when selling incompatible electronics.

  • Regarding loudspeakers, you should always listen to them yourself, with your own selected music. What sounds good to one person may sound hollow or boomy to another.
If you have already listended to them here in Aus that is fine, but do not go on a websites recommendations for speakers.

    • While that's true for loudspeakers, it's much less so for studio monitors, as they are monitors they should all sound very similar and true (unlike regular speakers). Obviously some are better than others (Yamaha HS) and others do have certain sonic divergence (Bassy KRK Rokits). But you shouldn't need to listen to monitors with the same vigilance you do regular loudspeakers, to make your choice.
