    • I looked on the E431. According to the specs it says Thinkpad Wireless a/b/g/n (2x2) which means dual band 5ghz right? The live sales guy said it's not 5ghz dual band because it is not 4th gen haswell. The E431 is the only one that I could find out of all brands that suites my needs.

The CPU is not what determines whether the wireless chip is dual band or not. I don't think the Live sales guy knows the product very well.

I'm not sure of whether the 2x2 wireless NIC is dual band, you will have to download the full product spec sheet to clarify.

        EDIt:

According to the data sheet, the 2x2 Wifi is the Intel Wireless-N 2230. Which is not dual band. Hmm.

You could upgrade it yourself. An Intel 6200 dual band NIC costs $20 bux from ebay which is fairly inexpensive.

        • thanks for the digging. Sad to see that everything in this laptop is perfect except for wireless!

          :(

        • Lenovo 24/7 live chat support confirmed that device will run on 5ghz dual band wireless. I have also asked my TSO (Technical Support Officer) and he said there is 99% it should work.

you might wanna know that WiFi is a health hazard and some schools in England, France, USA and Canada have dismantled their Wi-Fi. Also Chinese, Swiss, Russian limits for radiofrequency EMFs used in telecommunication is 100 times lower than what it is permitted in Australia. Exposure standards for AC magnetic fields
in australia was 1000 mG , it was raised to 2000 mG, while in switzerland its 10mG.

Are you suggesting the OP should quit school or just bring a salt lamp with them to class?
