Congrats on the new rig. According to staticice.com, the cheapest by 11 cents is mightyape.com at $77.89 delivered, then Big W at $78 (no shipping if picked up in-store) and JB Hi-Fi at $79.

Rockstar 2014 is on Steam (Australian Steam Store) for $49.99 USD.

    • but i still need the real tone cable right? that cost around $30.

      • There is a hack to use the standard line in on the pc though it doesn't sound too good. But if you don't like it at least you've only wasted $50 instead of $80 :)

        • I have not heard of such a hack existing.
I know some people made a few usb guitar input devices work (they cost a lot more than 30 bucks).
I doubt such a hack would work well, you dont want the game having trouble with tuning or picking up the notes.

I'd get the PC version if you have the option. When you finally upgrade to a ps4 etc, you will lose ur DLC if you buy the ps3 copy.

        • I use the line in hack and it works fine, I've got 100% on songs using it, the only problem is that there is a bit of buzz/distortion

Cheapest I found is $68 on BigW with $10 off. https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/127187 free shipping as well!

  • I ordered a USB-guitar cable off ebay for $9.

waiting for it to arrive, so we'll see how it goes

    • Does it claim to work with Rocksmith?

There is nothing special about the official one, it is just USB line in, anyone can make it. What stops others from working is they check the device ID and if it doesn't match the official one the software refuses to work for no good reason (without the hack).

      • edit: replied to wrong person.

    • so did this end up working?

  • no specific claim.

i didn't realise the official one was 'special' in any way

    • Yeah won't work without the hack. They claim theirs is super special but it's a marketting/DRM thing.

  • Don't see it on their website but I bought the PC version from EB Games (Hurstville) today for $57. Includes cable.

  • And for those that already have the cable, Steam version is 25% off, $33 on sale - http://store.steampowered.com/app/221680/

  • Bump on an old thread (if you're still interested)

JB Hi Fi currrently have XBox and PS3 version of this on sale for $59 (with cable)

I thought it was a good deal so I posted it here

  • Just note regardless of which platform you're buying it on, if your audio is being passed via HDMI, there's going to be a noticeable input lag which can be off-putting.

I've got mine running through my HTPC, but switch the audio to my Logitech speakers when playing using the standard 3.5mm analog audio cable. I think people who have the PS3 version use the RCA cable for audio and HDMI for video to reduce the lag.

Anyway, enjoy your Les Paul. They're a bit heavier than other electric guitars, so suggest getting a 3" strap which will be easier on your shoulders.

Should be very small unless your decoder sucks. You can also calibrate it out.

      • It isnt from the huge whingefest I've seen on the rocksmith forums. Small matters when playing guitar I guess.

        • Small matters when playing guitar I guess.

But Audio is never all that small anyway. Standing 3M away from a speaker adds 10ms because of the spead of sound.

Only real solution is calibrate, and everything is fine.

  • Crikey, nearly two years since the last post and I still can't find it anywhere cheaper than it was back then!

  • Can anyone point me in the direction of a copy of this game (for Xbox One) at an un-ridiculous price? EB Games only have a hanful of stores that have it. One being in Kempsey NSW and one in Innisfail QLD….both too far for a drive!

***Just got it on ebay - used but with cable - for $84.
