Free Shipping Until the End of June at 9289.com.au

412

http://www.9289.com.au/ are offering free shipping on ALL products until the end of June (was in April but has been extended) Australia wide. I have just bought a motherboard, hard drive and RAM from them after trying to price match.
MSY can be cheaper but the free shipping at 9289 saves me time and travel expenses.
They also currently have 10% off Asus motherboards. If you live in the sticks this is a great place for a bargain!

Cheers

Great work. This is a good way to stick it to shopping square

  • Nice. Just ordered two ST3500418AS's from them, thanks :)

    GREAT OFFER!

As you say, if you live in the middle of nowhere (like I do in WOYWOY, NSW), it is a lot easier to order by post.

    And now it's cheaper too!

  • has anyone actually receive their hard drives that were on specials last week?
it's been a week, and i'm starting to worry.

    • same situation, i emailed them, they just said to wait more days

I ordered one but it hasn't arrived yet. They emailed me because I listed a PO Box on the order (Oops).
At least they follow things up. Not like some companies who don't bother answering emails.

    • at least they emailed you, but they didn't to me???… . :(

this was my first time dealing with them… not a very good impression…

  • I've been using mine for almost a week now. Ordered it on Saturday or Sunday, not sure exaclty and received it on Tuesday. I'm in Sydney by the way.

Just rang them now. There is some delay with the Hard drives and they were swamped with orders. Nancy said if you have any worries just ring 9289 and they will let you know what is happening with your specific order (02) 8090-7700 .

So far I have found them very helpful.
PS: I don't work for them and I am not getting any extras discoounts :-)

PPS: They emailed me becuase of my PO Box address, not to advise of order status. Give them a ring Rockuman_ex

    Cheers

The more I deal with 9289 the more I like them. Seem to be well organised and offer genuine bargains. On top of everything the free shipping makes it a level playing field so to speak for those that don't live in the major metropolitan centres.

  • yeah i rang them last week too, on Thursday, they said they should ship it Friday or Monday, over the weekend the order status changed to ready to ship.
they said i should expect it early this week. was hoping for it before the weekend so i could install windows 7 RC.

nice deal on the shipping too.

ohh BTW, one problem, when i checked out and put my credit card details the site didn't do a secure connection i changed my address to https:// which may have helped.

  • Good work mikafamily. A good deal!

  • Thanks! Got Netgear Wireless G Router WGR614 price matched at OW for $44.64. I realise i should have bought from 9289 with free shipping but i needed it urgently.

  • awesome, just made a $300 order.

good prices and free shipping, sold :)

  • ++ Great Prices and free shipping!!
    — But very slow in delivery/postage.

I just ordered the 24" Acer X243HQ 1920 x 1080 for $299. I wonder if any1 knows the policy if they come with it on a day or time when no1 is at home? Do they leave a note and then expect me to pick it up from the store? I have never had anything shipped/couriered before so I have no idea how it works.

Also any1 know will I need a new graphics card to use this monitor. My computer is about 4 years old and is only a pentium 4. thanks

    • Depends on the graphics card it has in it. Does it have onboard graphics? No matter what graphics card you have you will be able to run the monitor, it is just a question of whether you will be able to utilise its native resolution of 1920x1080 which will give you the sharpest picture.

  • FYI, deal is currently 10% off all Asus products. Not just limited to motherboards as mentioned by OP.

Im gonna have put a negative, purely because im still waiting for my HDD enclosure for a good 1.5 months now. Have sent at least 5 emails asking why, where, and when and each time i get a response along the lines of "we get stock tomorrow, we'll send it out straight away".

I have been computer shopping, both storefronts and online, for a almost 8 years now so i know there can be situations where a store doesn't have stock but this is ridiculous.

    • +3

I can back that up. I had to wait 1-2 months for my Zalman ZM-NC1000 notebook cooler. Every time I contacted them they said new stock is coming in 2 weeks time or something. Next time I called them they said stock has been delayed further. It was the cheapest price I could find but it was pretty frustrating to wait that long and being told 'more stock coming real soon' over and over again.

However I did buy a 50 pack of blank DVDs before when they were selling them for $10 with free shipping and it came real quick. So I guess it won't happen to everyone and not all items.

  • Notice that most of the blank DVD's and CD's are all gone? Would have been good to snap some of them up.

  • Did anyone find out the make and model of the drive inside?

I just noticed that I was charged a $9 credit card surcharge fee… is this a standard policy for all online stores? Seems a bit steep.

    • +1

It seems they charge 3% for Visa/Master card payments. A bit on the high side, I think 2% is the norm, some shops charge 3% or more for Amex or Diners.

      https://9289.com.au/index.php?main_page=conditions

It's generally acceptable to charge extra for card payments due to thin margins in PC trades.

    • +1

You could use bank transfer to avoid this fee. I did this twice, payment confirmed by 9289 the next day.

    • +1

Cheap negative vote.. practically all computer stores charge for CC, they have to pass the cost on - especially when margins are as thin as they are!

Bank deposit has and always will be free. Why not use that? And definitely read the T&Cs before agreeing to anything, it clearly outlines the CC fee - how could you miss it?

Update. My first order (Hard Drive) arrived today Via Fastways.

Delay in shipping was partially my fault because I stated a PO Box not a physical address.

Payment via direct bank deposit on other items (as excite says, avoids surcharge) approved today. I thought they might have sent all items together however postage is free so it's not really bothering me.

Courier delivery usually requires a signature unless stated in special instructions to the courier. I have in the past rung my local depot and had them hold parcels for collection. As long as you give them a tracking number it's rarely a problem. Some couriers leave a card in your letter box so you can collect the item if you are not home on the first visit.

I agree that delays in delivery are frustrating, the credit card surcharge is listed and can be avoided.

The thing I like so far with this company is that they have a physical address and you can actually ring them. Even better, when I did I was able to speak to someone who resolved my issue straight away.

Anyway so far I am happy with the prices and the service. Good to see some comments from both sides of the fence. Thanks Ozbargain !

    cheers

I got my order to WOYWOY (NSW, Postcode: 2256) today.

I rang them earlier this week, as it was a week since the order.

They seem to be doing the "Let's see how many orders we get first, before making a bulk-purchase from our Suppliers".

    Very common trick.

    Nethertheless, I am happy.

    • Ah yes, Woy Woy, the Venice of the south. (a Spike Milligan quote).

        That's the one! :-)

  • Free shipping and cheap prices you got to love that.

  • very disappointed as I am still waiting for my Acer monitor to be delivered which I ordered and paid for 10 days ago. And I don't live out in the sticks either BTW…

I have called 3 times and each time I get the same lady she tells me that it has been dispatched and will come tomorrow and when i ask her for the tracking number so I can call Fast Way Couriers she says she doesn't have one…

    • She should have provided you the tracking number, but still might not be helpful due to the bad service of FastWay. I bought twice from 9289, and the delivery was "fast" the first time, but the driver just left the package outside my door. The second time, I received the item after one week, I had submitted an inquiry online, but got no response except for an automatically replied email, and no update of the online tracking info.

  • It arrived this afternoon. Good price and free shipping is a nice bonus… unfortunately 10 days is too long to wait when I was told by the lady on the phone it would be here in 3 days at the latest. also unsatisfactory that I couldn't be given the tracking number. Id give 9289.com.au a B+ for value but a C- for customer service. Mind you, this is my first time ordering anything online so I have nothing to compare it with… so take my comment with a grain of salt.
