  • Melbourne is pretty big. Maybe a bit more location specific, plus the name of the business, ABN, etc.

    Welcome to OzB.

  • I'd say its this..

It would most likely be the TTF group as they actually import these tyres themselves!!!

  • Hey Rep.
    How much for 205/55R15 ?

    • starting from $95..but for OZbargainers it'll be for $89 :) …what brand are you after?

  • Hi Rep, could you please advise what tyre's would fit a Nissan Pulsar LX N16 (2002) and how much for an OzBargainer :) ?

Please let me know your car type, colour and rego number if you fit these tyres to your car… Because I don't want to be driving on the same road as you!!! Especially not with my kids in the car!!!
I'd be struggling to think of a worse tyre on the market!!! (and there's a lot of cheap $#!t out there!)

There are also a lot of overpriced tyres out there. It's good to have alternative choices to the big well known tyre brands and tyre dealerships. Choice did a test last year and I think the tyre that came out on top was a brand not known to most people (Champiro). See resuls here - http://www.fordforums.com.au/showthread.php?t=11368666

The tyre brand is GT Radial, Champiro is the model name. GT Radials are well enough known, Alan Moffatt did the ads for them.

As for the 'more choice' argument, what if it was made of terry towel and was $10? That still doesnt make it good for other road users, or yourself. The point raised was valid, cheap tyres usually are poor performers when you need them most. Like, emergency stopping in the wet, or a sharp turn with an emergency mid corner to name just two of the many many others. All tyres are pretty much fine just rolling around and around at 60km/h, but that is not the mark of a decent tyre, emergency situations are where you learn what saving $30 here and there does to you. Some arent even good at rolling around and around at 100km/h, they cause too much vibration or road noise. Of course all this can happen with a brand name tyre too.

I was originally in retail for 10 years, and the amount of people that used to come to me wanting them taken off the car well before they were worn!!! That, or wanting to tear strips off the people that fitted them!!!
There's cheap, and then there's rubbish… And these are just plain rubbish!!!

Edit: As for those magazine tyre tests, they're no more than paid advertising nowadays!!!

Can you comment on why it's bad?

Poorer bonding process of the tread to carcass, resulting in premature failure of the tyre. (ie, tread separation)! Poorer curing process of the rubber resulting in unwanted handling characteristics (ie less grip), chipping, cracking and premature wear! And not saying these are as I've never cut one apart to inspect, but some cheaper brands use thinner core steel strands in the belts, which one again, affects handling under load. It also causes more heat to build up, which is one of the major causes of tyre failure! I could go on, but I think you get the picture!!!

    • AUS(TYRE) sounds like an Australian made tyre but they're made in China.

They're just rubbish tyres, all you have between you and the road are the tyres so why skimp when you can but much better tyres for not much more.

An example of why they are rubbish and there is plenty more if you search.
