  • I have Boxee Box & WD Live in 2 separate rooms. The Boxee has been flogged to death over the past 3 years and will need replacing soon. I have never used plex before, but will I be able to access my local mkv collection with apple & plex? I dont want to use transcoding if possible.

No worries EC. Many thanks for that.

It should read 'save $27' not 'save $37'.

  • JB at South Wharf price matched and said it was an excellent deal. I strongly agreed.

    Thanks WNK!

Kudos to Big W in Robina QLD who gave me the $81 price yesterday…23rd Dec…after I showed him my phone with the big W website showing the price at $81. Def didn't have to!
He said, if it is on the website then it's yours for $81
    Happy as Larry!

Allcast from Play Store works with Apple TV

  • I can confirm JB HiFi in Piccadilly arcade in Perth city price matched at $81 after showing the BigW price on the website. The girl at the counter commented that I just bought it cheaper than she bought hers at staff discount.

  • I went to BigW in Waverley Gardens VIC early this morning (just after 7am) and was told that they have sold out! No luck also with a couple of the other outlets nearby too. A bit suspicious for a deal that only started today if you ask me (not the first time with BigW).

Anyway, after much drama, I found out that The Good Guys is offering the same price and managed to get JB Hifi to price match! Happy ending!

    • I ordered mine Click and Collect from Waverley Gardens and it was made ready to pick up yesterday - I suspect they took them off the shelves for the people who bought online, then took a while to process them.

    • This post is a bit late, but when I went into Big W at Eastlands (Hobart) around 10.30am Boxing Day, they had already sold the 1 apple tv they had in stock. Was not happy and had words to customer services on the way out, which didnt help as I was told the website was run by someone else… and they didnt have to have the same stock available etc etc. I was extremely lucky that JB Hifi nearby price matched - first time I ever tried a price match so yay. I have been stalking Apple Tv to come on sale for months.

      • I went to a big W on boxing day, they said they never actually received any stock in.

  • Got the good guys to price match big w. Got it for 79 at TGG Beckenham WA

  • I ordered this online on the 23rd. Got an order confirmation. Had my credit card charged.

Just received (31/12) a phone call from Big W saying they would not supply the Apple TV and we're refunding my money. Not happy. I'll be making a complaint to the ACCC.

Anyone else in a similar situation?

    • Just made a complaint to the ACCC and the QLD Office of Fair Trading for breach of Contract of Sale. I'd urge anyone else in the same situation to do the same.

      • What was their reasoning? Do their T&Cs allow it at all (after all, this appeared to be a price error because Apple products were not meant to be included in the sale)? What was the outcome?

        • ACCC ignored my complaint. Big W gave no reason for cancelling my order. QLD Office of Fair Trading also ignored my complaint.

It seems like Big W is "too big to sue", at least as far as the ACCC and Office of fair trading is concerned.

        • Update: Just received an email from QLD Office of Fair Trading (finally). They contacted Big W directly (without first contacting me) and Big W has agreed to honor the original order at the original price ($80 delivered).

Looks like QLD Office of Fair Trading agreed with me that a contact of sale had been made when Big W took my money. Refunding the money several weeks later doesn't just render the contract of sale void.

I've contacted Big W and have a new order number (for the original $80 price) and an apology for the "inconvenience". That's all I wanted, so I'm happy.

So I guess justice was done, albeit slowly. :D

BTW still no response from the ACCC.
