  • Great price! My (pensioner) parents pay (with health card) much more than that at their local chemist.

    • Health cards don't make a difference in the price of Panamax's. They are Non NHS or Private anyways. You may be thinking of Panadol Osteo's.

Panamax 500mg x 300 tablets can be dispensed as a PBS item. The cost with a Health care card is $5.90 (going up next year). But at this price, the 69c is better off price wise.

I believe you might find yourself mistaken Mr Wangkar. Panamax is indeed available on the PBS but is usually cheaper when done privately.

edit: Beaten to it. Too many professionals on Ozbargain

        • +1

That's what I meant. Unless you want it to contribute to SN, most pharmacists automatically dispense them as private as it is simply cheaper. Hence it doesn't matter if you have a concession card.

        • I've found most of my patients prefer them dispensed for $5.90 to count towards their SN and to help them reach it faster. Better in the long-run for them.

Need to stock up for the new year hangover.

  • hmmm, i should pick up a pack at that price

  • 60c i wonder how much it cost them, oh well cheap drug to deal with the symptom. And useless as well imo.

My local chemist (top Ryde shopping centre) have these for 69c.i think it's just a standard price there.

    • Same here Usual price. In every chemist catalogue I receive

I'll pick some up when i get my viagra, that way i'll be prepared for the headache excuse

Think all vitamins are half price, which is a little better than normal price.

  • Yes this may be cheap, but really… how the hell is the independent family owned pharmacy that has been on the corner near your home for years going to be able to compete against this? I heard about the chemist warehouses dodgy buying practices…

I assume they bought a crap load of other drugs from their suppliers and got a crap of these for free so they would keep buying the other drugs, just another way to get people in their stores to spend more on other impulse buys.

    • They are cheap anyway. Its only paracetamol

    • Isn't this ozhargain. Cheaper = better?

  • +1

My Chemist has them as well but I think for some stores it's limited to 2 per customer :)

Edit: You wouldn't possibly had been shopping at Northlands Myc were you @op haha. The shelves look strangely familiar in the photo.

  • Great now I've got Panama by Van Halen in my head

I went one better and played it on the "big" system.
Well, all of 1984 actually ;)

  • My wife works for Chemist Warehouse and this is what the staffs normally pay if they want to buy Panamax.

  • I like how it says save $4.70 off RRP when the previous regular price is $3.99 (Save $1.70 off RRP).

There's definitely a saving but false illusion on how much the sale really is.

  • +2

These used to be made in the UK, now India. /random fact/

    • I bought from the last $0.50 sales, felt that the effectiveness is less than other brand. Looked at the box and saw that it was no longer made in the UK.

      • Its all the same quality by law. Choice did a story on the different brands of paracetamol and said that theres no difference in quality, it all comes down to the packaging that you prefer.

        • Its all the same quality by law.

          Australian Law - correct?

I wonder how many packs, from how many shipments, are tested by Australian authorities?

  • Bargain. My chemist sells Panamax for $5…

All this arguing about Chemist Warehouse, PBS, pricing… it's giving me a headache…

If only I had something to take…

  • this will go well with the cheap condoms from yesterday

Why does your girlfriend have frequent headaches?

Priceline in Munno Para (South Australia) has these for $1 each.

In case that is closer for some people.

  • Perfect for taking away the pain of Christmas.

  • Max 2 per customer, per transaction

    • Bought 4 packs. No issues.

  • +1

Grab em while you can. There is talk that they will soon be restricted to maximum 20 tablets (paracetamol)
    per transaction

    • How many do you expect to use before they expire? Overdoseing on these is easy and is bad for you.

I prefer ibuprofen anyway. Best thing to avoid headaches us to not let yourself get dehydrated.

  • Cheapest I've ever seen them is 99c at my local. I've just contacted Northfield (Hampstead Road - SA) - they are selling them for 69c until 2nd Jan - limit 2 pp.

  • Good old chemist warehouse. Where's the promotion of OUM here? Nowhere to be seen. Good work jerks.

  • Lost leader price…

    • +1

      Lost leader priceā€¦

Did you mean the CEO of Chemist Warehouse, or of the firm that makes the pills? In any case, I hope they are found.

  • Went to Prahran store in Melbourne.Needed 8 packets, they refused to sell me more than three packets. They said they were "two cheap". I wonder what the penalty for misleading and deceptive conduct would be for failing to notify of this limitation either in the shop or in advertising.

    • 8 packets? You must have a really big head buddy!

    • I bought 4 packs. No questions asked.
