        Yes that's the current accepted viewpoint. However, Gen 2 (or SGAs) still correlate. There was a Taiwan study that saw a positive correlation of 1.26 over non-users for dementia risk with a cohort of 714k for allergic rhinitis use. That's a crazy number. There's also Pharmacovigilance in FAERS that saw a disproportional signal for neurological events for seizures, movement disorders, and faculty impairment associated with SGAs. So like cetirizine in particular showed measurable brain H1RO motor impairment. There's also acetylcholine release due to histamine cross-talking, and becomes relevant due to acetylcholine's role in attention and memory. Particularly, cetirizine is categorised as higher central signal.

        Imo, these findings do somewhat show the growing incidence of antihistamine users and general rise in seizures and brain and motor impairments in general.

        For 2024, the global Cetirizine trade is about USD 1.2 billion. Australia took about 200 million tablets in 2024 alone.

            @xhanatos: Mometasone spray being a corticosteroid and not an antihistamine is my savior.

            Makes you worse for about 2 days then on day 3, clarity.

            Once the effect kicks in, I find I can halve the dose (1 spray) or even skip a few days.

            Talk to your doctor of course :)
