Free Delivery to Australia for a Limited Time @ Debenhams

141

Very rare to see free delivery with Debenhams, usually around £12/$22 for delivery to here. Coincides nicely with their boxing day sales too.

For those who may not know, Debenhams are a UK based department store similar to David Jones/Myer etc.

Some good bargains on towels which are usually top quality.

  • Hopefully a good deal, mate. I've very often found good deals instore when in Dublin and hope there are some specials to combine with the free shipping. Some of their own 'designer' inhouse brands can be good for clothing.

Let me know of anything interesting that you find.

Welcome back gooddealmate !! Was wondering where you disappeared.

Thanks mate, the strengthening £ hasn't helped considering most of the deals I post are from the UK. I've still been lurking though :)

  • They don't seem to deduct VAT off like most UK retailers I shop with, but the free delivery sort of make up for it I guess

"Although this price is the same for deliveries outside the EU, where VAT (or VAT equivalent) may not be applicable, customers are not entitled to any discount or refund to account for the differences in tax treatment and will pay the same price for the item as a customer placing an order for delivery to the EU."

They don't take off VAT and pocket it for themselves if you're ordering from outside the EU. It is an absolute scum move. I would discourage anyone from ordering from businesses who continue to charge additional tax to items that are exempt (exported outside EU)

Yes they should deduct vat, but conversely many Australian businesses also do not deduct gst when shipping overseas. This shouldn't really take away from the fact that this is still a 'deal' where you save $22 on shipping

  • What shops deduct vat and ship to aus from uk?

    • +3

Harrods and Amazon.co.uk… just off the top of my head

    • Clothing stores whitestuff.com and seasaltcornwall.co.uk deduct VAT automatically (and have pretty cheap flat delivery fees to Oz from memory), and fatface.com will refund the VAT to you once you receive your items and send them an email.

When are Primark gonna go online and ship? ;)
    I miss the £2 clothing!!!

    • Haha good question.
My guess is that Primark/Penneys will enter the AU/NZ market at some stage.

The profitability of the budget-fashion giants of Europe (and Aldi!) shows that it's a lucrative market if done right.

I'd be interested to see how it is done. My guess would be possibly Melbourne first.

Before that, Primark should test the market online, as M&S and Debenhams are doing.
