$5 off Amazon's 2013 Editor's Choice Games (requires Purchase from The Digital Games Store)

This post contains affiliate links. OzBargain might earn commissions when you click through and make purchases. Please see this page for more information.

We can now redeem our holiday promotional credits given out for Digital Games purchases. If you purchased anything from Amazon's Digital Games store in December last year, you will receive $5 credit. We have until the end of the month to redeem the credits. The list of editor's choice games is currently incorrect on Amazon. To see the actual list, which will be updated during the month, go to:
http://www.reddit.com/r/GameDeals/comments/1ug9iq/amazon_pcd…

It will take some time for Amazon to make the titles eligible for the offer. The $5 credit is automatically applied at checkout.

So far I recommend these offers that expire sometime 1/6/2014:
Dead Space 3 Awakened @ $3.49
Crysis 3 @ $4.99
Dead Space 3 @ $4.99

I also recommend these offers but I have no idea when they expire:
Ace Patrol Pack @ $0.99
Brothers - A Tale of Two Sons @ $2.49

Very origin heavy on the editors picks… Coincidence or did origin just not have a sale over Christmas?

    • I was thinking the same thing. I got Dead Space 3 Awakened during Origin's sale and a few Sims 3 packs. Origin's prices for the Sims 3 packs were cheaper.

    • +1

Amazon said they are waiting for other publishers to agree on offers. EA was the first to supply their deals. So we can expect discounts on titles from other publishers during the month.

  • +11

Wow, pretty shit list. Quite the let down, I have 5 x $5 discounts and I won't get to use one (I already have Bioshock)

    • +2

Yeah I'm thinking the same thing. Last year I was so disappointed I didn't have more discounts, this year - won't end up using a single one.

    • I have 7. Thankfully it didn't factor into my original purchases, so, it's not a big deal. Just a bullcrap promotion on their part.

    • I have 8 from buying copies of BF4 for friends.

    • If they are codes you should share!

      • +1

They aren't codes. They are linked the the account automatically.

    • I have 4 x $5 credit with 4 different account too. But would I be able to use an app that I bought from one account if Im logged in with another account in amazon app store?

  • +5

prices haven't been updated fully and the promotions are not applying yet.

  • +7

Keep in mind the sale lasts the whole month. New titles will be added as it goes along and titles currently listed with 0-10% will be reduced further.

There will probably be one or two US$4.99 titles that are free with the coupon, just like last year.

    • Free games? I thought the coupon is valid for titles above $5.

      • Yep, according to /r thread its only available on titles over $5.

  • +5

Editors Choice Picks? How did MULTIPLE Sims DLC get in there as an online picks?

    • -1

Maybe one of the editors is a female? You know.. the opposite sex?

      • +1

What is that.. I've heard of these elusive things but never seen them in the flesh before.

    • Anyone ever seen EA thumb their nose up at a money making opportunity?. No way. Apparently they were pretty much one of the few to respond for the promo before launch…and yeah… got to wonder why it wasnt all arranged well before hand..

  • +3

i dont think these are the right prices. they dont match what tony from amazon was saying and also this page (without games) was up yesterday also. i think its going to change in a few hours

  • Wondering if I should get Bioshock for $5, given that DLC is not cheap any more it might be better to wait for a complete bundle.

    • +5

      Do it.

  • Its not active for me yet

  • Yeah either not active for me yet or they are really average prices. Most of those games have been 25-50% cheaper during recent sales.

  • +3

Lousy list atm. Expensive overhyped EA games. Still cant use the promo codes

The only decent deals atm imho

    Bioshock Infinite 9.99
    XCOM Enemy Within 14.99
    The Secret World 11.99

    • +2

The XCOM Collection pack had been listed at a discounted price of $10, but then reverted to the regular $60 price. Not dodgy…

    • I went Crysis 3 (received Dead Space 3 from EA Humble Bundle and I'll never play multi-player, so the Dead Space 3 and Crysis 3 DLC is of no use to me) and The Secret World (probably won't play it, as I'm enjoying the Defiance MMO) but for $7 USD may as well as that's the cheapest it's ever been on sale and I can get my supernatural RPGing on at some stage in the future.

  • If last years is anything to go off there are some OK deals which are in line with other discounts after coupons applied and some really good deals, though last year I think I only picked up Spec Ops and Syndicate for ~$2.50 each

  • Crysis 3 seems to have dropped to $10 ($5 with voucher now) same with Dead Space 3.

Also N4S Rivals has also dropped to $30 ($25 with promo)

    • those were the prices when the bargain was posted

      • Oh, it must have updated a bit slower for me as well like some of the others said.

  • Where do you actually see your credit?

    • Still hasn't been applied, very slow by Amazon

      • Had for me at the time this deal was posted.

        • You were getting the $5 off at the checkout phase?

        • Working fine for me.

    • You should get an email.

    • +1

This is a really round about way but it works and as far as I know is the only way other then referring to your emails that works:

If you go to this link http://www.amazon.com/gp/feature.html?ie=UTF8&docId=10002968… and click enter code it will display all your credit balances with amazon

It will be listed under "SOFTWARE/VIDEO GAMES" Though it doesn't actually tell you what it is for… some may be other promotions

      • Thank you! That is exactly what I need.

I wish their interface could be easier to navigate sometimes.

  • +2

Nah I'm negging this deal. The credit is now applied, but low and behold they've reverted most of the prices to regular price. So for example

    Bioshock Infinite:
    WAS $10
    NOW $35 ($40 -$5)

    XCOM pack
    WAS $10
    NOW $55 ($60 -$5)

    F-you too Amazon.

    • Hmm.. well who is surprised really? Hopefully people didn't spend more than 30 cents a game.

  • Highlights I can find so far are Dead Space 3 and Crysis 3 for $5 each after discount.

I hope more titles are added later this month.

  • Is there a difference between Dead Space 3 [Download] and Dead Space 3 [Instant Access] ?

    • +1

Instant Access titles require you to link your Origin account with your Amazon account. After linking, the game is added to your Origin account. Origin download titles include a game key to activate on Origin.

  • Oh goody. Crysis 3 for $5. Thanks OP.

  • is it me or do the vouchers not stack?

    • +1

That would be nice. But you can only use one $5 credit on each purchase.

  • +2

Just saw Sid Meier's Ace Patrol Pack is going for $5.99, or $0.99 with the voucher.

Bioshock Infinite also down in price to $13.20 and Xcom: The Bureau at $14.99 pre voucher.

    • Yeah picked up Ace Patrol, if you sell off the steam trading cards you could almost get it for free

      • People actually buy these trading cards? Where do you sell them?

        • +1

On the Steam Community Market. They make roughly 3c - 15c (newer games) and also Steam deducts 2c per sale.

        • +2

To add to Where's_That_Cake comment, Steam deducts 5%, publisher gets 10% both with a 1c minimum I think, the winter sale cards where selling for ~40-50c a piece at the start of the sale.

I sold a foil winter sale card for ~$3.50 on the second or third day of the sale.

Cost of the cards really seems to depend on how many people are playing, how many cards/drops for that game, how much the game is, and if it has been in a humble bundle.

Humble/Free/Cheap games are generally <10c a card, other games usually sit around 20c a card

Brothers - A Tale of Two Sons is now $2.49 USD with coupon

Amazon added "How to Survive" for $2.50 today..
    http://www.amazon.com/How-Survive-Online-Game-Code/dp/B00FY3…

  • And Marlow Briggs and the Mask of Death for $7.49USD ($2.49 after EC coupon)

I had never heard of this game, but it actually looks kind of interesting

    • +1

Marlow Briggs seems to be worth the purchase judging from reviews. It has a 7 or so hour long campaign, so under 50 cents per hour of entertainment.

  • +1

Amazonians adore Red Sabre: "1.0 out of 5 stars Not even worth the $5 dollar special on Steam By D. Serr
Where to start on this piece of garbage?
No real explanation of mission, no story, no setup.
Entered into mission, Leaned around a corner to take a peek and first bad guy fired three shots and I was dead.
Just wish I could erase it completely from my steam list." And 32% on it's Steam page.

  • +2
    • Bad reviews sure but for $2 who cares? Might grab that and Warfighter. Thanks!

      • Single player for warfighter is supposed to be pretty good from what I have been told so may have to pick it up

EDIT: Got Syndicate in the EC sale last year, it is really pretty good, not the best game ever and nothing like the originals, but still a great cyberpunk shooter (also this is still banned in Australia though I can't see how it is much worse then most FPS games)

    • The deals that Thaal mentioned expire tomorrow.
