Craft beer specials - eg. Ballast Point Big Eye IPA $13.80 - BWS Salisbury SA (other stores?)

90

Ballast Point Big Eye $13.80 (equivalent slab cost $55 vs $75 DMs)
Karl Strauss Pintail $12.60 (equivalent slab cost $50 vs $70 DMs)

A few similar deals for other sixers too. I remember seeing Feral (white?) , Burleigh Pale and Balmain Pale plus a couple more I can't recall.

Lady manning the register thinks the specials would be at all stores and may last until Tuesday night.

Definitely not in Victoria. Shame, that Ballast Point is a ripper IPA but at $23 a 6 pack (usually) its a bit pricey.

What are the best before dates on them, OP?

  • Hey OP, what were the BB dates for the beers you bought? Just curious to see whether they're on special due to old stock (Like the McLaren Vale Pale Ale deal late last year).

  • Best of luck, carllevy

YOTR and Yojabbajabba, best before dates are June 2014

Be wary with the Ballast Point Big Eye IPA. It is one of my favourite beers, but recently Dan's and BWS have started stocking old stock of it. If it has the white label, it was brewed in 2011 (you can read this through the blur on the label.. batch 55 or so) Still drinkable, and quite safe, and heck some people may even prefer the flavour.

But, at $13 I would gladly buy it, still quite tasty. At the full price, I'd prefer to track down the blue label stock (brewed in 2013)

Of note, the ballast point beers (as far as I have seen) don't display best before dates, only "brewed on" dates. When is best is a matter of preference, it's going to be safe to drink for many years to come.

  • Lucky find.

I do like a bit of the Balmain too, including their Pilsner.
