For those reading this for general info on pots and pans, I'd suggest not getting shiny saucepans, they are a nuisance to clean and invariably look very used after not very long. Matt or otherwise ones look better in the longer run- that's on the outside, not a comment on the inside.

My 7 year old Scanpan impact set still look new after daily use, I think they are super. My non stick Scanpans on the other hand live for around 2 years :(

      • find w' my shiny Racos and kettle looks a bit daggy after some time whereas the matt finish toaster etc looks good. Maybe these are a better surface.

        • Umm..How often do you pick up and handle your toaster compared to your pots/pans and kettle?

        • Not sure what the answer to that question proves really. My previous statement stands, it is my experience and I speak for myself only.

        • Obviously I need to break it down for you.

Your shiny cookware and kettle that gets picked up and knocked around = looks "daggy" after a while.

Your toaster that doesn't get picked up and knocked around = looks good.

          Seeing the connection yet?

        • Thanks for your supercilious comments. A matt finish toaster doesn't show marks such as burns, finger prints etc no matter how many times it is brought in and out of cupboards etc, it still looks good as it is matt. Plse don't bother relying further I am not a fecking eegit and have better things to do.

        • You're the one bizzarely warning people against buying shiney cookware, why don't you want to explain yourself? I don't understand how fingerprints are an issue, don't they come off your pots and pans when you wash them? And why are shiney pots susceptible to burn marks but matte pots aren't?

      • My 32cm Scanpan impact frypan is really an absolute please to wash. I soak overnight and all it needs is a wipe. On the other hand, I looked at our non-stick Scanpan a few years ago, and noticed the black was not only cracked but falling off, probably ending up in the food. Told the misses to throw it out. Never again.
