I think cheap is an understatement.

Cost to buy 500g of bananas = 2.5 cents
    Cost to post 500g of bananas = $6.95 + packing costs…

    Hmmm not really worth it

They had 5c/kg peaches, nectarines, plums in addition to the bananas & strawberries. Fruit quality was so-so. Good for smoothies but borderline to eat on their own. Still great value at 5c. Still available at 6.30pm.

Anybody from the SE suburbs feel like bringing me back a 20kg box of each? I'll even buy you the same for the trouble of transport because I am such a generous fellow

  • WHY OH WHY DO WE IN PERTH HAVE TO KEEP PAYING EXTORTIONATE PRICES !?!

Just been looking on line for weekly specials - totally ridiculous prices for even the basic fruit & veg.
Whilst I realize that the trucks have to come over the Nullabor to get them here from the Eastern States - we do have the climate to produce them here in W.A. & do, but still have to pay these over the top demands from the major retailers. One small chain called Spudshed has gone up against the retail giants to produce their locally grown produce & sell direct to the public @ a fraction of the cost - good on them. However the nearest outlet to us is apx. 1 hours drive away which would seem to defeat the object.

    • Give us a rundown of what you pay there?

      • Going fruit & veggie shopping tonight - watch this space with the results !
