Bogan-Bargains

Hi guys, excuse the topic heading but I was on a couple of sites over the weekend and I mentioned how I'd got some really great deals on fresh roasted coffee beans delivered monthly at really good prices(I signed up with Manna Beans) and I got slammed in the comments section by heaps of people.

The most common reaction seemed to be things like: "If you need to worry about Coles+Woolies specials and you can't work it out your self then use BogBargains…" I asked what they meant and after a heap of lols they said Bogan-Bargains, it's for people who are too lazy+dumb to find better prices and 'expletive-wits who buy things they don't need because it's cheap, herd mentality at it's best and a few people linked to a couple of threads here(no need to name them as it serves no purpose)_

I argued a little bit but then realised I was gonna get hammered whichever way I went.

I accept that we're all not equal and that there are dumb buggers on most sites but BogBargains is a bit much isn't it?

I know in my case I'm here for the bargains, I don't use all the bargain links because I don't need too but things that matter to me I like to chase through (a shaver for 4 bucks 18 months ago and it still takes my stubble off each week beautifully!) and I don't think I'm a bogan.

It's a cruel world sometimes on the Net.

Some of the people on OzBargain can be really mean.

    I agree with you.

    • I agree 100 %

Accepting that some people on this site seem to enjoy putting down other members for their comments is a good lesson in patience. Which most of us could use a bit more of :)

So thank you to all the negative people… I appreciate the fine lessons I learn in patience and acceptance from your verbal dummy spits :)

And to those who see the negative abusive rubbish and find it unpleasant and annoying…speak up..so those responsible can be removed or at least sanctioned.

this site appears to be doing a wonderful job at informing people of where to save a few $$ and to offer advice on consumer related issues…full credit to the majority of members contributing to that purpose and to the mods for their time and effort to maintain the site.

Its always a pity when some like to shoot off their mouths and tarnish the good image of the site.

and yes..as below..most of the comments by those minority with big mouths would earn a punch in the mouth if said face to face.

Hiding behind the internet is a sure sign of the weak and gutless morons that is nothing short of a plague infecting our communities.

bullying has gone from the playgrounds of our childrens schools to cyberspace..these spineless morons hide behind their keyboards and often use vpns or fake ip adresses to further try hide their identities.

it shows how scared these fools are of being caught..they bully others annonomously because they are weak.

the same bullying occurs on sites everywhere…there will always be big mouths who say alot of crap which they would never say face to face…again because they are weak.

I spent 15 years teaching kung fu and self defence to all types of people..many of whom were being bullied either in school or in a domestic relationship…the psychological aspects of bullying is quite interesting. When confronted most bullies back down..they prefer to pick on easy targets.

when a lion picks on a lamb its a form of bullying..but to survive..

a lion wont pick on another lion because its not an easy target..

the same applies online..easy targets because there are usually no consequences. .no chance to get pulled back into line.

the best defence for online bullying is to not react..sometimes not easy..but after all they are only words on a screen..they can only have a bad effect if the target lets them.

sure the target may be upset that others may read the negative or abusive comments and take sides..and unfortunately people often believe what they read without checking the history or sources…its human nature.

Bullies will usually go away if they dont get the desired response… and eventually those bullies will grow up mentally and regret their actions..so in the meantime those who dont find anything useful in replies made to insult or to degrade the validity of a "good faith" comments or posts of members should simply ignore the useless reply and complain to a mod.

keep up the good work everyone..this site is one of the best sites I have found :)

      Cheers

The thing is, on the internet, people can say what they want behind a screen and know that they will face no consequences.

Some of the things that are said on forums, if said in real life, could potentially lead to a punch in the face, thus cowards who like to think they are 'big' go and insult people on the internet and make it as much less pleasant place to be.

I'm personally just complaining here, but the groups I find most annoying are:

    1) Keyboard warriors, people who talk aggressively behind a keyboard and screen, but wouldn't dare do it in real life because they know they will get hit.

    2) Keyboard lawyers, people who talk about the law behind a keyboard and are sometimes able to quote cases…etc. but in reality have little understanding of the law and are just blatantly wrong.

    3) People who can't spell and use proper grammar - come on now, would you write in that language on a job application?

In reply to your third point, there's a huge amount of difference between an anonymous forum post and a job application. For example, I doubt you use the same language when you're chatting in a bar as opposed to a job interview.

Oh, damn. I think I just turned into a Keyboard Warrior.

    • In defence of spelling errors…you have to allow for some who are new to using tiny little keyboards on mobile devices..and those who dont really care if a couple of words are wrongly spelled… after all these forums are not exactly job applications :)

      Cheers

Haters gonna hate, it's their loss. I am not a bogan (ok, occasionally I have bogan like tendencies) I have had some fantastic savings here and I wouldn't make a major purchase without checking here first. Their attitude reminds me of the saying "a fool and their money are soon parted".

I understand its upset you somewhat, but just remember (as others have said), its the internet. You don't know who or what is writing comments on here. Kids, adults or senile old buggers. When forums and chat sites first came out on the internet it was a real novelty. Who would have thought it would have grown into such a daily part of life where its the only medium to communicate for some people.

Take a break. Turn the power off for a day or two and move on.

Edit: hang on, someone just negged a comment of mine in another thread. Son of a ….

      Lol Thanks for the laugh.

OP They are clearly just wanna-be's. If they are linking to threads here, they are obviously reading them. They're the ones who buy up bargains posted here without ever having the decency to thank the OP for taking the trouble for posting, by simply even voting for the deal.

Haha, that made me laugh. I might have to get a t shirt with BogBargainer emblazoned across the front.

  • you are right
    we have idiots everywhere
we are all at different stages in life and as long as we dont harm anyone it is better for us to chase a bargain than to act out our aggressions.

    • Well put :)

  • Screw 'em. Every site will eventually have to deal with the unforeseen consequences of its own success. The more members who sign up, the more trolls we'll get. Hopefully they will be outnumbered by decent members.

    And WTF?
    Bog = toilet
    Bogue = short for Bogan.

They couldn't even get that right?
