I've made a complete list of the 2 for $20 titles here.

    • Cheers for doing that. :)

You wrote "Sister Act 2: Back in the Hobbit" hahaha

      • nice mistake

    • Nice, a few 4K blu-rays in there too (Ctrl-F 4k).

      • +1

They're not 4k, interesting article about them http://m.cnet.com.au/sony-mastered-in-4k-blu-rays-a-mixed-bl…

        • So TLDR is…

          "Mastered in 4K" means:

          • Definitely not 4K, still 1080p
          • Slightly better bitrate (ie: less compression, which may make a noticeable difference on big enough 4K displays, but possibly also on 1080p projectors and big-screen good quality 1080p TVs)
          • XvYCC support (slightly wider colour gamut on the rare newer high-end TVs that support it)
          • Sony 4K algorithms (possibly slightly better picture on special new Sony displays)
      • +1

Does anyone notice a difference with these 'mastered in 4K' releases? For example, Skyfall, like many other films, are shot with digital cameras with a resolution of upto 4K. Obviously the video has it's resolution dropped to 1080p for the blu-ray. How is that any different to a 'mastered in 4K' blu-ray?

        Seems like a marketing stunt.

        • Yeah, WTF, this is surely going to come back to bite them. Talk about confusing Joe Consumer completely.

I guess they'll end up selling lots of 4K TVs anyway, even with BS like this, since people buy expensive TVs like hotcakes, even when they secretly can't tell the difference themselves (sometimes because they hooked them up with analog composite cables). But still, come on guys…

        • +2

          Anyone remember Superbit DVDs?

        • +1

JB are huge offenders when it comes to feeding video into their via analog AV cables. It just makes it harder for them to sell a HD TV when it's playing standard def content

    • +1

Thanks for doing this…really admire your patience and dedication

  • As usual went into JB and picked up 2 for $30 yesterday. Son of a bitch!

    • +2

Return and rebuy. They'll probably refund you the difference if you ask them nicely.

    • +7

I never buy Blurays from JB unless they have the 20% of thing, cos they happen so often I know the next one can't be far away…

    • So did I… But their gift card system was down so they said "Come back tomorrow when you can get 20% off"

Finally, failing technology saves the day!

  • There is still 25% off at Big W, but most of the time JB is cheaper anyway, as their standard prices are lower (and much better stock range).

    • Buy 2 get 1 free from tomorrow.

      • Does that stack with 25%,or is that ending when B2G1F starts?

        • The 25% off ends when B2G1F starts

  • One wonders what the fall in the AUD is going to do to the price of blurays!

  • how about this? $12.78 and 3D

They are training us to only buy when it's 20% off….

  • Damn Got 3 nos of TV Series Box Pack today and seems I got one in Dupe(already have that box ser). Any idea how would they refund as I paid for 2 and got 1 free. Each was $31.98(Marked at 39.98) X 2 + 1 Free. I need to just return 1 which in bill shows as 31.98.

Koyaanisqatsi & Powaqqatsi on the way now - replacing my old DVD versions. $8 each for them is a decent deal, I reckon.

  • There are some classics in the 2 for 20$ range; Enter the Dragon, Gone with the Wind, The Good, The Bad and The Ugly, Once Upon a time in the West, The Dark Knight

  • What am i doing wrong. i choose two title from the 2 for 20 list but the cart still not showing discounted price?

    • Not sure works for me, added the first 2 in the 2 for 20 list and it totalled $16. Try a different browser

    • Clear your cache, should help

  • Mass Effect Paragon Lost. Normal price online = $10, normal price in-store = $33. WTF?

    • $33 stickered of scanned? often they'll scan at the online price no matter the sticker

      • +1

Stickered, once I saw the price I figured it belonged back on the shelf.

  • +1

I just realized they still have $9.98 titles too ($7.98 with this!) listed in this post by legiong.
Last day to get them at that price…

  • +1

Thought about doing a last minute order but the pin was pulled about an hour before midnight, boo..

    • The 2 for 20 titles are still being discounted for me :) Just not single ones :(

  • I know this is a bit blasphemous but does JB raise prices of things prior to these 20% off sales? I bought The Bible on blu ray with JB Hifi limited edition packaging for $39.99 back when it launched November 2013 (and I just verified my receipt). I was at JB in castle towers over the weekend and saw the same blu ray for $49.99! Maybe it was a launch promotion but still seems rather coincidental it went up by 20%.

  • The 20% discount is still being applied to the '2 for' deals FYI, don't know how long it'll last.

  • The most recent wonderful 2 for $20 deal seems to be finally over! (they're probably all $12.98 now)
However the $9.98 titles still seem to be there…
It lasted 3 months (for future reference).
