Potential 5% price match will make it $14.25 (thanks to Mick Fox)

  • i've been using one of these setups for about 8 hours a day 5 days a week for 2 years. Really can't complain for the money

    • Does this take AA batteries and how long do they last?

      • The mouse takes one AA. The keyboard takes two AAA. It comes with duracel batteries out of the box.

        • -3

Beware Duracells… I've lost count over the last couple of years, how many I've found leaking acid.

        • +11

That's odd, considering they're alkaline batteries.

        • +1

I'm going to cosign this: I bought this set a while back when I needed a quick keyboard/mouse combo, and 6 months or so later the batteries had almost died, and when I went to change them I found it had crystalline growths (potassium hydroxide?) everywhere.

If you buy it, try to use some different batteries (or be prepared for a clean-up down the line).

      • +1

I've got two of these and they're still on the original batteries over a year later. Guess it depends how much of a flogging you give them. Mine get light to moderate use.

    • -1 was an accident. Sorry mate, meant to hit the +1 and now it won't let me fix it up.

      • No worries mate, I fixed it for ya! Thanks for telling :)

  • -5

Bluetooth with no requirement for USB plug-in is not offered on this keyboard. According to comments, no LED indicator for CAPS LOCK etc. But it is cheap.

    • guess people can put that 5% PM to good use and get it for $14.25

      • Or take advantage of the $2 shipping from the Good Guys.

      • +2

Tgg and ow have it for the same price, I am not sure a pricematch from ow is valid.

      • Does it mean I can get a further 5% off if it's paid with ING paywave?

  • +1

    === "2.4GHz wireless delivers a reliable connection, with up to a 9-metre range" ===
it is good to have one for your media centre PC in the living room.

    • That is what I do, great for a HTPC

Plus good batteries included worth a dollar or two so the HW is cheap.

      • -1

Be wary of Duracells. Nearly every time I've seen one in a kids toy or remote control the last couple of years, they've been leaking acid. I got so sick of it that I now throw out every Duracell on sight and replace with Eneloops. I wouldn't use them now if they gave me a free lifetime supply.

        • Alkaline batteries leaking acid? That's a new one.

    • Sorry wrong post

    • Hi abc boy

I want to be able to watch stuff from my computer on my TV. if you can help abt how to set up a media centre pc for my living room that would be great.

      • It’s simple. Relocate your PC next to or under your TV. Connect your TV to your PC instead of the monitor. And connect the sound card to TV as well.

  • +1

I've got about 3 or 4 of these sets and I have never had an issue with any of them, the batteries last longer than they should for the price, I intended to upgrade them at some point but they have been too reliable.

    A steal at this price.

  • Had this setup since June, got it for $20 from MSY.
No complaints, other than how it's a bit crammed near the arrows (there is no gap at all on the sides) and the lack of indicator lights for the various 'locks'.
Wouldn't recommend it for gaming or anything like that, but for the price and everyday tasks, it holds up well.

    • Ive used one of those, and I can say your review is spot-on

  • Has anyone seen one of the wireless mice that can recharge from micro USB when plugged in and then can be disconnected once charged? I'd really like one of those.

  • I have one… i brought it for $19 a few months ago… quite good for the price :)

  • can anyone please recommend options for a samsung smarttv keyboard?

  • good find dude, I was in the market for one of those for my Media Player, JB Hi has them @ RRP $30

    • Hi frostman,

Trying to set up so that I can watch stuff from my computer on my tv and also watch dvd easily on my TV.
What media player r u using? Also if you have set up a media centre with pc etc along with your TV pls let me know how.

OW and TGG have the same price so OW won't beat it by 5%.

From OW website it states " Find an identical Stocked Item at a LOWER PRICE and we'll beat it by 5%".

  • I personally prefer the Logitech keyboard's feel in this price range but it's a bargain nevertheless.

  • Is this the one with the white colour on the other side of the keyboard?

    • Yes it is.

      • Ahhh thank you very much I bought this one for $25 a little while ago and have been very very happy with it, I think ill go buy a few now.

  • Ive put these in for everyone at work since pretty much every single logitech KB & Mouse has failed in under 4 years. No complaints from anyone so far.

  • Highly recommended- I paid $26 and thought it was a bargain.

  • Will this set work with the Surface RT?

  • Thanks OP. Still 8-10 left at Officeworks Doncaster.

  • Good value. I tried it for 2 days last month and did not like no spacing in the arrow keys.

  • Will they link to the Android TV sticks (like Rikomagic)? Anyone tried?

    • +1

      Worked on an iMito MX1

    • Hi cristtos,

I saw yr post abt Android tv sticks - wow I had never heard of rikomagic. I trying to set up so that I ca see stuff from my computer on my TV. and I am totally new to this so your help wld be great

i have an hdmi wire and thats about it. BTW I dont do any gaming or anything just want to be able to see youtube, photos movies etc - which is also disorganised on my pc.

    • ,

  • Hey gang - is this a standard (full size) keyboard or something smaller like the logitech k400 that's more designed for loungeroom use etc?

    • +1

It's a full-size keyboard in that it has the standard 101-key US layout, and aside from the F-keys, Esc, PrintScrn, Scroll Lock, Pause and the media keys; none of the buttons are squashed or of a reduced size like on a laptop and the spacing between the keys is adequate.

The actual length of it is about 4 centimetres shy of my Logitech G710+ Mech keyboard, which is my minimum standard for comfort and ease of use in key spacing and placement.

Compared to say the Logitech MK220 (which is on sale at Binglee) or the MK400, it's got noticeably more of a bezel/fascia (it's about 15cm longer and 9cm wider than either of them), which give your palms/wrists a better gradient to lean on with the legs down but you can still easily use this as a Home Theatre keyboard as it's incredibly light and the mouse is compact.

The MK400 also has very tightly spaced and recessed keys whereas these have more travel and feel more like a normal OEM rubber dome keyboard.

      • Thnks Amar89 for the great information and detail bet the two - just want I wanted- appreciate your time and effort

  • +2

Just got one… now I just need a reason to use it…

  • Just picked one up from Glen Waverley (Vic) Officeworks - Shelf showing $29.95 but scanned at $15. Thanks Tscott….perfect timing for me!

  • got one, actually saw this previously and was "sitting on the fence" with this one, but am convinced now. Thanks OP

  • actually just popped over the Sydney CBD OW, and it seems like $15.00 is the RRP on these anyway…it was the basic B&W sticker, (not the highlighted, discount ones) so im presuming this is the standard price guys

  • How long does this sale last for?

  • Almost brought one of these 2 weeks ago from OW for $29.. but for some reason walked out without. Then I ordered it last Wednesday at $15 from OW (click and collect) - still waiting for it though.

Sorry, I should have posted the deal here then :/

$39 at both JBs and Dicksmith. $15 is a great price.

  • Thanks OP. Picked one up from Subiaco WA this morning.

  • Thanks OP. Grabbed one of these from Dee Why OW. Plenty in stock. Mouse seems to work off one battery yet has space for both AA supplied batteries.

    • what, you got two AA batteries supplied? I only had 1

      • It's weird, Microsoft's website states that 2 AA and 2 AAA batteries are included (http://www.microsoft.com/hardware/en-us/p/wireless-desktop-8…) but unless we have different revisions of the same product or something, the mouse only needs one AA battery. At least the two I bought today do.

I'm thinking OldKing didn't notice that there actually isn't enough room for two AA batteries although I could see how at first glance he thought there might be.

        • yeah, i saw that on the website as well, although on the box it says 2AAA and 1AA

      • I had both batteries bundled together with the USB receiver.

  • Grabbed two from Officeworks Osborne Park. Probably about 8 more left.

  • The only issue i found with this unit is that the scroll button on the mouse seems to loose traction eventually and skip a bit. (require a few more scrolls to actually move the page up and down) However, i think its due to dirt and grime. Has anybody else experienced similar issue and if so how did you resolve it. (i cant seem to work out how to pull the mouse apart without breaking it)

  • Logitech MK 220 vs Microsft

Woolworths has the logitech Wireless combo MK220 for $19.99. Which is preferable? better handling features etc? I am gonna be using this for the first time

    • +2

Now that I've had a day to play around with the MS Wireless 800 at work; my verdict is MS Wireless 800 all the way. I've tested out the MK220 before.

The MK220 is strictly for portable use and is way too small and cramped to be used for longer typing sessions.

The MS 800 can do both really, it's light and small enough to travel with you but can be used in place of a full-sized keyboard just fine.

The mouse that comes with the MK220 is a little bit smaller and definitely on the netbook/laptop mouse side as opposed to the MS 800's which is equal to your standard OEM mouse size. It's got more a universal hand shape, the MK200's has almost no arch.

The MK320 would be a more comparable counterpart from Logitech as it's the same size as the MS 800 and imo has a better key layout. It is more expensive though.

If you want to spend double the money of the MS Wireless 800 though ($32 at MSY: http://www.staticice.com.au/cgi-bin/search.cgi?q=microsoft+w…), the MS Wireless Desktop 2000 is a definitive step up. A much bigger keyboard with a proper palm-rest, additional program keys and media keys, a far more comfortable mouse (with back/forward buttons) and more importantly a far better optical sensor that'll work anywhere. A very comfortable feeling keyboard for $32 bucks imo.

  • Purchased today in-store, cheers! I like the response from the keys better than the other Logitechs. And I quite fancy the shiny glossy finish.

  • Thanks OP bought one for home from Aspley OW, they had about 3 left. Went to Strathpine OW but all sold out. Also bought 3 for the office.

  • +1

Just saw this and purchased from ALEXANDRIA, NSW. They had heaps left. Tried to call the warehouse and city branch but they sold out.
