  • Any good ?

    • Daughter has had one this year for school, seems to do everything she wants games/wifi internet etc, hasn't had any issues with it. Compared to the ipad's starting at $550 plus, these are great value.

    • I've had one for a while. No issues. I paid about $500 and some for mine. More versatile than my laptop, but then again, everyone's needs are different. Sold off my laptop since. Haven't looked back.

  • Its heavy, and the wifi and GPS is complete rubbish. Other than that, really nice unit.

Wish i could get Windows 8 on it..

  • Everyone will have their opinions, but for me never had an issue, lots of updates to fix bugs, TV out, great "wide" screen. Worth it if you are not after a higher end CPU. Though it is noticeably heavy with the dock attached.

  • Sounds good, except for the low-ish resolution for a 10".

Does "refurb" mean refurbished by ASUS, looks like new, or does it just mean second hand, like on eBay?

  • These were $229 at HN couple months ago. Also had TF201 for same price.

Reasonable price but refurbished. Wonder what the condition of these tablets are in.

I've had one for around 6 months and no complaints. WiFi is fine, no problem finding or maintaining a connection.

  • —Please note some individual items may show signs of wear, such as scratches and marks common with used items. In some instances accessories may vary from the standard (for example, software or manuals may be missing or different, no original packaging).—

That pretty much keeps me away sadly.

  • Just in case it says I'm affiliated, I did that by accident and THINK I removed it. Though not sure.

  • I mainly want to use one as a digital photo frame.
Is there any issues with these tabs being ON for extended periods of time ?

How would this compare to the Aldi Bauhn 10.1" tab which I think retails for $249 new ?

    THINK I removed it

    Yes you did

The oo.com.au page doesn't mention what Android it comes with, but on ASUS website it says, "Android™ 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich with ASUS Waveshare UI"

I think its a good price for a current model ? Might take the dive !

Is there any issues with these tabs being ON for extended periods of time ?

If the screen is always on then the device would not sleep — it'll consume the battery very quickly, wear out the battery cycles and will shorten the usable lifespan of the device.

In short, if you intend to put this on your wall and use it only as a photo display, it's probably overkill, and second, it's also silly to use a tablet mainly as a photo frame when it can do a lot more than just show pictures. Especially when it has a 3G function…

Digital photo frames are one of the most unwanted presents of all time, so if you look on ebay you should be able to bid and buy a used one at a relatively (much) lower price than new frames.

  • What is highest official Android version released for this? And has anyone here tried a custom ROM of Android 4.4 on it?

    • According to the all-seeing eye it seems 4.2.1 is the highest (official) version released for it.

  • Too old to buy now. IMO it is better to throw a bit more of cash and get sth newer, but the price is good, specially with the dock
