FAKE Gillette Razors from Pharmacy Direct!

https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/129907

To anyone who purchased these bargain Razors from Pharmacy direct, i have just confirmed they are fakes!

I bought 2 packs of them last week and i tried one of them this morning and found them to be unusually rough on my skin. A brand new mach3 will usually glide and cut like butter.

I did some research online and found there are a lot of fakes going around. Heres how to tell:

https://thecounterfeitreport.com/product/114/Mach-3-Razor-Bl…

So when I got home today and had a closer look. The blades and dots do not line up and theres even extra dots on the side.

I also compared it side by side to an old mach3 that i bought from wollies, and could spo subtle differences in the plastic mouldings.

If you bought one of these, i suggest you get a refund asap. Im going to give Gillette a call tomorrow.

Regards,
flip

: ) Fake … equals "look ok". I hope they are ok.

      • Did you look em up on pill reports? ;)

    Just buy the real thing.

    • I thought I was, because that's what was advertised.

  • As discussed on https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/129907, I too have received fake blades and have requested a refund.

Two emails sent in 7 days, and still no response however.

I wonder how they'll go responding to a letter from NSW Fair Trading? Because that's where its headed by the look of things.

    AVOID PHARMACY DIRECT!!!!!!

  • Have you tried calling or posting on their FB page?

I have the contact details of the guy who called me if you want it. I think the phone number is a private line as its not a 1800 number.

  • +2

I'll tell you how to get a quick response, and it's not by contacting Pharmacy Direct again. Report the fakes to Gillette Australia. Send them a sample of the fake product and your purchase receipt from Pharmacy Direct. I think you'll find that Pharmacy Direct will then react to your complaint pretty quickly ;-)

    • thanks mate, will do!!

  • You can also visit their store in Silverwater if you live in NSW.

  • Give it all a miss, i recommend dollarshaveclub. When you buy razors at the supermarket, you're simply subsidising all the theft that happens. A mate who works at woolworths told me razers are the #1 stolen item.

  • just an update on this, i ordered these same razors (mach 3 NON turbo) but hadn't used them yet
Assuming these ones were fake i ordered some from chemist warehouse as well
On comparison i cant really see much difference, there could be a tiny bit of quality issues where the metal holder wraps around the back of the plastic of the head
using one blade each on each side of my face doesnt seem to be that much different, also the lubricating strip seems to actually contain lubricant on both heads
So i'm not so sure they were fakes!

  • I had ordered these too, but only just recently opened them up as I still had several packs of Mach 3 Turbo blades to get through.

I too noticed immediately that the shave was very rough and irritable. Something was not right.

After looking at my other Mach 3 blades I immediately noticed that the dots did not line up, which led me to look more online. I'm convinced they are fake.

First time buying online. Normally buy blades from stores on sale due to fakes being around. I thought being a reputable online store I would be safe.

I'll probably stick with buying them in stores from now on. May pay a bit more, but at least more peace of mind.

  • After now comparing with some "real" Gillette Fushion ProGlides I have purchased, I have discovered that the dots on these do not line up perfectly too, so I'm not sure if this is a real indicator of fake vs real.

I looked at some other packs too in various shops and noted the same thing.
