80

Probably the best item on the Club Nintendo Australia page in 3 years. The hat is wearable.

actually the hanafuada cards are much cooler, in my opinion, as you cant get mario ones anywhere else, but mario hats can be bought EVERYWHERE….

It's such a ridiculously large amount of stars. You have to buy practically every game Nintendo release to get that amount.

  • how many points do you get per game?

    • I think 500

    • I think it's 50

      • You get 50 for your birthday, 250 for a game. The worst is that they expire !

        • Yeah, I just lost 100 last month :(

      • Its 250 for a new Nintendo title, 200 for older and third party and fifty for cheap digital games.

The whole thing is not worth my time. Put a few games in, then realised it will take longer then frequent flyers to get anything semi useful so lost interest.

I wish there are pipes or beanstalks that can bring me to some place where I can get a lot of stars.

Still waiting for the Luigi diorama. If I've got enough left over I might get this or the Hanafuda cards. Sitting on 7250 with nothing to buy!

Got the Luigi coin last week. Smaller than I thought it would be but still cool!

  • Did anyone get the hat?

  • Hard to get that many points within 3 years (when points expire). Calling Nintendo at the moment because I have 100 points expired when there shouldn't be…

    • Yay! I have the points returned to me :) +100 pts

  • Hmm depends on who you are I suppose. I have had over 15,000 points and I would have double that if I didnt import most of my games from the UK (even though some work in Aus). I saw this last night but I am still waiting for Luigi Diorama as well. Also got the luigi coin which sold out very quickly. Have over 7000 points so should be enough for luigi. I bought a whole lot of kid icarus cards and they were pretty cool I guess

    • How are you finding out when these items are added?

      Was the luigi coin 1500?

It seems the AU store redirects to nintendo-europe. I don't recall it being like that before. Maybe that's why theres a few more items in the store these days?

      • Well I really want the luigi diorama as I collect statues and they said that they will be adding it early this year. Usually add item at midnight so i just check every night. Yes I am a loser, but I will be a loser with a luigi diorama lol.

The coin was 1250 points which I had on another account I amde to get the free mario 3d land code promotion. I had 1300 points so was lucky. Didnt think it would sell out so quick.

The Europe items are different. I have noticed it does direct you to a "europe" URL thingy but I think it is just because we are part of Europe when it comes to most games etc.

  • What can you do with this hat?

edit: Just read the description properly. Thanks OP for the clarification.

      The hat is wearable.

Major selling point. Much better value than that fridge I bought last week that you can't put food in…

I seriously doubt I could have found enough good games worth buying on any Nintendo system that would allow me accumulate this many point even if I owned one.

    • +2

      I guess that's a matter of chickentaste.

    • Oh man. Look at those downvotes. Don't upset the Nintendo bleeding hearts with facts.

      • I can't believe some people can be such ass hats. I am an owner of a PS4, two Vitas, a PS3, a WiiU and a 3DSXL. I do prefer my PlayStation gaming, but to say that there is a lack of good games on Nintendo systems is short sighted, self righteous, nasty fanboy-ism at it's worst.

        • You'd better buy all those great games quickly then, because the way things are going with the WiiU there won't BE a Nintendo left to buy them from pretty soon…

        • I already own a pile of games, also if you are to believe rumour then Sony will be bankrupt this year and Microsoft are selling off Xbox. Can't see Nintendo going anywhere, considering that the 3DS is by far the best selling system on the planet, can you?

        • ass hats

I think they're wearing them the wrong way…

        • Yes, I can. The Wii U has flopped badly and Nintendo have admitted huge losses and issued profit warnings to their investors, I doubt they'll make another console. The 3DS will roll on for the time being but unless Nintendo come up with a compelling USP for their future handheld devices they're going to lose more and more users to the smartphone games segment. Sooner or later they're going to end up becoming a smartphone software company unless they do more than make Pokemon games and recycle the same 30 year-old themes for ever-diminishing returns.

3DS is currently ranked 13 on this list. Not sure what the jump is after you factor in October to December sales (which should be a large chunk)

I love my 3DS and split my gaming between PC and 3DS. Decided never to buy a console again because it's a waste of my money.

And of those 35 million sales, a significant number (until mid-2012) were sold at a loss after Nintendo slashed prices after a disastrous launch. It wasn't until midway through 2012 that they actually started to make any profit on the hardware. And as for Q4 2013: 3DS sales forecasts were significantly downgraded this week on the back of poor Xmas sales.

It's nice that you like your 3DS but Nintendo's appeal diminishes every year. It can't make big-budget hi-res epics to tempt the console markets. The portable market was strong but losing ground every year to smartphone game sales. All it does is re-release the same 5 or 6 games and Mariokart 7 just doesn't provide enough of an argument for people to buy into the ecosystem.

  • Nintendo will go the way of Sega and you'll be playing Mario on the Xbox two or the Ps5 in the future

    • Sega didn't have the best selling handheld ever. If anything I think they might reevaluate their home consoles, handhelds are their forte though.

      • I hope the don't go like Sega

I hope they just finally bring out a kick ass system that can be on par or greater then the other 2 companies
