Can I please get some laptop recommendations?

Hello everyone, hopefully you guys can shed some light onto what I'm after and maybe even send a deal my way.

I'm chasing a laptop but I'm not super sure what I'm after. Mainly used for HD Video editing, Timelapse editing (batch processing in photoshop and stitching images), university work (not strenuous), web browsing and movies.
I'd ideally like to be able to set a batch of photos to be processed, while that is going on set another batch to be converted into a timelapse film, then while I'm waiting for those I'll simultaneously browse reddit and watch futurama.
I'd like it to be quite portable, and under 15 inches. Battery life is pretty important as I get super bored on planes and would love to do my image processing on the go.
I'm in university so I'm not flush with cash, however I'm a mature age student so I do have some saving put aside from previous work.

I think that's about it, so if anyone has any recommendations I'd be glad to hear them.

Also, the current https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/131106?page=1#comment (Horize w840sn) looks like it might be idea?

Thanks
Andy

  • Oh also, thoughts on refurbished computers?

  • I think the Horize is good value. You can probably score a ~10% student discount - be sure to check these out.

  • The Horize is the best deal currently.

  • Lenovo E431. I got one it's amazing. Super fast and with the help of Win8/8.1 boots up in 18sec! Of course I have the i5 with 8gbs ram (custom option).
