inbuilt 750mAh Lipo battery
high sensitivity 65nm sirfstar III chip.
hmmm and great battery life.

If you dont know what it is, a GPS logger is a portable GPS receiver that records your coordinates every X seconds. You chuck it in the top pocket of your backpack and go on a worldly adventure, and it'll remember everywhere that you've been. upload the data to google earth and you can retrace your steps. You can also sync the data with your photos, and could subsequently view them on google earth exactly where you took them!

The unit works great, good construction and water resistant. cant wait to take it to NZ this July!

9289 are cheap for this gps logger.

It has two problems though, it doesnt use a standard usb connector so you need to carry their proprietary cable with you and it only saves 32000 waypoints, you can get ones which last around 150,000

it says it is compatible with all digital cameras but how does it interface with it. I'm guessing this device can add gps co ordinates to the exif ?

    • Like all gps loggers, you need to use software to attach the gps info to exif of photos after they've all been downloaded into the computer. the bundled software is a-trip, but you can download other ones too.

like Anthony said, main problems being the inconvenient proprietary usb cable, and a relatively limited memory (good for a few days)

  • Any idea if you need their software to transfer the GPS co-ordinates off the unit? I have a NextoDI which I dump my photos onto when I travel.

    • yes unfortunately, i think. i've only had it for a day, and as far as i know it doesn't show up as a storage device, so you need a-trip to download the data.
