      Lack of local warranty is something we're all quite aware of when purchasing items like this from overseas, it's a risk that many of us take knowing full well that if there is a problem, we're most likely SOL.

      I am certain however that there are vacuum cleaner service people throughout Australia and if something were to go wrong, it wouldn't be necessary to ship it back to the UK for repair.

    Bought a Henry from Zavvi a few weeks ago for ~AUD $165 delivered (using 11% off discount code + refunding the delivery as they "forgot" using the tracking). The reason that we bought a Numatic is that it's made in UK and supposed to be long-lasting due to its simple design. Over the years none of our vacuums die within 12 months — most died after 3-4 years of service. So a "12 months local warranty" isn't much a selling point here.
