I bought a Dc59 from DJs in December with CBA Amex.. Does anyone know if Amex has price protection?

Your card is with CBA, so it's irrelevant if Amex offer price protection.

So ring CBA and….wait for it…drum roll please… ask them.

  • I don't know whether or not this is a good deal, but damn that is expensive for a portable vacuum. Are these things really worth it?

I don't know whether it's very overpriced for a portable vacuum, but I bought one. If we were to do the whole apartment, we'd take out the floor vacuum as the portable works for about 20 minutes only and not quite as powerful. But for the odd job, it's way better than the cheaper portable vacuums we've had in the past where you needed to go over the same spot over and over and still not pick up something you'd end up picking up with your fingers in the end.

From the point of view of convenience and effectiveness, the Dyson handheld is pretty good value as we'd use it more often for small jobs. I think I effectively paid about $460 or so for the DC59 Animal with the free kit in December.

I work at the Bondi Junction David Jones small appliances and I can assure you Dyson vacuums are pretty amazing. Yes, they are heavily overpriced but yes, you do an incredible job. Suction is solid, design is aesthetically pleasing and the product is simplistic.

If you're not convinced, drop by and I'll give you a spin of the Dyson range. I go by the false name of Jake at work :)

  • There is a difference between DC 59 and DC 59 Animal. This is not a great price compared to Hardly N just before Xmas $487. My children gave me a DC59 Animal for Xmas and it is fantastic. I have a Kirby and an older electrolux and the Dc59 outsucks them both. You need to have a waste bin with you in the room to empty the thing so often. Also a small stick because so many things get jammed in the small outlet.
These things are crazy overpriced but amazing. In my humble opinion Dyson know what a great product they have and are charging accordingly. maybe they will drop in price eventually

    • The myer CBA rewards last week is still cheaper @ 25% off the RRP.
I got a DC59 for $448. They didn't have the animal version anymore as it was all sold out when I got there.
However, it is pretty much the same thing. The only difference with the animal is that it comes with an extra turbo nozzle but at $50 premium. If you don't need the nozzle I suggest just get the DC59 and save yourself $50.
