For those considering purchasing LG TV's, it might be worth considering their data collection practices.

And there are cia agents under your bed.

While some of their smart TV software may have had that capability, it was never used.
It was no different to monitoring malware that fills your computer right now.
Monitoring for marketing purposes is nothing to stress over.

      • Are the CIA agents Hot?

I've had LG Smart TVs for a couple of years now and not noticed any impact from choosing LG.

And thats not even counting the built-in webcam and face-tracking software.
Smart TVs should properly be called Telescreens .
But they already go far beyond anything that author imagined.

And there are cia agents under your bed.

It turns out there are, but NSA actually, not CIA. Don't you read the papers?

    • Agreed it's possibly bad, but do you have a smart phone? If so they already know everything and more.

The way of the future, big bro knowing more about us then we actually know ourselves….snigger!

  • Thanks OP - looks like a good deal. I'm still trying to decide between LCD and Plasma, though I think my family will want to go LCD due to the brightness and lack or darkness in the TV room at my house.

My main concern about all the uploading of info is that it might make the TV slower. The more actions a TV has to undertake the more painful the experience will be.

It's pretty simple, don't use the 'smart' features. Don't put it on your network. No one uses these features anyway.

  • still looks available at this price
